What happened?

Last year, they were the #2 defense in the league. I don't think their schedule got any tougher.

Maybe the offense is so overpowered that the defensive starters get to rest most of the 4th quarter? Maybe the quick scoring offense is putting the defense out there too often? I'm not sure what it is, but there have only been a couple of games that they were in danger of losing. Their lowest point total this year was 24 and they have scored 30 or more points in 9 of their 13 games.

This past weekend they were up 31-0 on the Raiders at the half, and they let the Raiders get 16 points in the second half while their defensive starters sat some of the 4th quarter. It's just a luxury to do that when you're ahead by 4+ score.

I think they are like in the top 5 in creating turnovers.

Misleading. Their defense is top half in the league in points allowed. They're usually leading by such a large amount their defense doesn't play 'as aggressive'. That why opposing teams will get yards and points in the 4th quarter but they're already down by 20 or so and its not necessarily a threat.

This. Playing prevent defense most of the fourth can give the opponents a lot of meaningless yards.

Why do people still get hung up on defensive and offensive rankings?? They are one of the worst barometers to measure team units by.

Does anyone actually think that the Packers were a #2 defense last season?? Seriously, that's a joke. If they were truly ranked #2 last season, than the rankings measurements are worse than I thought. They were nothing but a streaky defense that gave up a lot of points at times and committed a lot of TO's at times. They were never a great defense last season.

Its simple - when you are ahead teams must throw the ball to catch up when you are behind or in close games teams play a more balanced offense against you ..... GB has played from ahead most of the year and the stats show.

Kinda like the Texans passing offense last season they were in games that they had to score a lot or were behind and had to throw .... resulting in lots of yards.

Is our defense for real?

Yes , they can stop the run and the pass ..... and have proven to do so in every game accept the Aints game ..... when they fell apart for one quarter and gave up more in that single quarter than all but two complete games (the 25 the Raiders put up and the 29 from the Ravens).

They havent given up more than 20 points in 10 of their 13 games.
