View Full Version : Brisiel - OUT (Broken Leg)

HOU-TEX

Just got a text from 610 saying he suffered a broken leg and had had surgery. He expects to be back sometime during playoffs.

Just saw a tweet from Anna-Megan Riley saying Mike Brisiel is out until possibly the playoffs after having surgery for an injury similar to that of DManning.

We got this I'm sure. Brisiel was on a pace to capture the coveted Chester Pitts Award for most false starts in a season. Usually you add another guy to the mix this late in the season and you might have some inconsistency and a few false starts but with this being Brisiel I doubt we'll even notice.

He looked hurt towards the end of the game. I don't remember if it was the game winning drive or the one before that, but he was in pain. I was hoping it was just a minor injury but this sucks. The o-line has been so good primarily because of the continuity, but it's the next guy's job now to step and get it done.

Yeah you could see him limping around in the background with a grimace on his face in the closeup shots of Yates in the huddle.

Caldwell has starters experience. Continuity is a big thing for this line, the only silver lining is that it wasn't one of the tackles where I think Derek Newton is the backup

I don't think this is much of a downgrade -- the bigger problem is that this leaves even less depth on the bench.

We've got Caldwell, Gardner, and Austin.

I didn't realize we had so many guards on the roster at this point.

Studdard and S. Smith going to IR must have scared them about our guard depth.

Kubes said in the press conference that Caldwell will step in for him. He said that the surgery was at 7:00 am and that it went well. Said it was exactly like D. Manning's injury. Said he may be back in 3-4 weeks if everything goes great. Just an FYI.

So...what happens if we get through the next game without an injury?

Does Kubiak pick a guy and knee-cap him in the locker room after the game?

At this point, it's just a team tradition. Might as well keep it rolling.

(Seriously, though, it's messed up. Just ONE game where nobody gets majorly hurt please. ONE GAME.)

If they make it to the locker room without an injury I think he gives Joseph an Arrow to the Knee AJ style.

Brisiel's had his own problems moving before the snap, recently.

Yeah, if Pitts is in shape I'd give him a shot. I'd just like to see him get a chance to play in a playoff game for the Texans. He busted his arse for this franchise for years.

We've seen this team have a ton of injuries, but not be able to win in spite of it.
Time to break Rick Smith off some propas, too. This team is at least two-deep in most
positions, and three-deep in a few others.

there is no doubt we have built depth and quality and smith needs to get the props for that imo. however, we have had more IR'ed guys 2 years ago IIRC), but i can't remember ANY team having as many MAJOR players injured and still being able to overcome the issues. MAJOR props to the players and coaches.

I think Caldwell is in the same position Brandon Harris is. We drafted him, thinking we were going to have a position for him, but Brisiel upped his game (I've never been a big Brisiel fan, but if he's still starting on arguably the best OL over the last two years... eh...).

Caldwell is going to have the opportunity to show that he should be starting. I hope he makes his case.

So between Jackson and Allen which one has upped their game enough to stop Harris from playing at all so far? Just asking honestly.

I honestly think both of them has. I mentioned in another thread, Allen is getting more physical, as evidence I offer the TD that wasn't a touchdown when Julio failed to land in bounds.

Kj is naturally more physical. His feet & his hands have gotten much better since last year. I still think the game is too fast for him & I get the feeling that he doesn't think he belongs yet, he's a little too self conscious. Once he stops thinking so much, I think he's going to be an excellent corner.

I think we have three starting corners.
