View Full Version : New Stadiums: Citizens pay or Owners pay

With these ridiculously rich owners and our local communities and national school systems in shambles
should we blame our local politicians, the owners, or ourselves as fans for allowing stadiums which run in the hundreds of millions in dollars to be financed through taxes which could go to much needed schools or community programs?
I think it's just a given that whenever an NFL team needs a new stadium the city better pony up or else they will start with the "we're moving!" talk.

Hey I think paying more on taxes and spending that money on a stadium is worth it if your getting a good state of the art stadium if you not then make the owner pay or send that money to something useful.

Cities/citizens paying for stadiums would be fine with me if they then had an ownership interest in the team--see, Green Bay. Unfortunately, that is the only team which is allowed to be owned by the city--interesting that they have a very small town relatively and a fanatical fan base.

Sweetest job on the planet?? NFL owner. TV networks pay you billions of dollars and tax payers pay for your building.
