I find their lack of respect disturbing.

Hosed?

No...

Connor has been getting a lot of love.

Suggs did that on a national stage against a team that has been doing great this season.

True, but including this last game Jags QBs have been sacked 32 times to 49ers QBs 30 times. Not like there was a huge difference in pass protection quality. The Jags even have more pass attempts.

I wouldn't argue against Suggs, but I don't think it's a slam dunk either.

I don't disagree with any of that.

If Connor had gotten the award I don't see how anyone could complain.

Either way, I hope he keeps it up.

You folks act surprised that a player on an east coast team would win it.

I talked earlier about how having another big market team in your division (thread about moving the Jags to LA) gives you greater National exposure (http://www.texanstalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1839130&postcount=88) and more eyeballs on your team, more frequently. I think this is a good example of how it helps.

Well of course. For example Dallas would have been just another franchise in CST zone if nor for the press it got for playing against the teams in it's division that represent the big-citys of the NorthEast, especially the one in NYC which is the media capital of the country.

The coverage on TV should have absolutely NOTHING to do with the award.

Connor had 10 tackles, 7 Solo, 4 Sacks, 5 Tackles for Loss and 6 QB Hits.

Suggs had 3 tackles, 4 Solo, 3 Sacks, 3 Tackles for Loss, and 3 QB Hits.

HOSED.

Well yeah that and winning. I mean it was totally playing with a NYC team that made people notice poor little Dallas going to the playoffs 18 of 20 years.

[Giants playoffs 3 of 20 years for same time period. Washington 8 of 20. Philly 4 of 20]

I agree generally with Vinny's point but this was taking it too far.

ideal meet real. It does. Exposure means something. Not all writers comb over NFL game film each week. They see what the media and the big market coverage pumps at them. I'd bet a healthy percentage of the voters didn't see the Schaub-less Texans play the Captain Twitchy led Jaguars last weekend. Called it hosed, call it unfair...its the real world and my argument stands.

Maybe I just don`t understand it: but how can a player have 4 solo tackles and only 3 tackles? And don`t forget the forced fumble on the part of Suggs - he did it against bigger competition... Im not mad about that decision, especially with Barwin getting player of the month honors.

On the overall topic, football isn't baseball and stats don't always show how a guy impacts a game...ESPECIALLY on the line. I'm not saying Suggs deserved the award over Barwin, but just throwing out stats isn't the same as watching the players impact the game with your eyeballs and looking at the little things, how he frees up his teamates, how he draws a double, how he changes the direction of a back, or the trajectory of a throw. Most of that stuff isn't measured by stats. Suggs obviously had more people watch him play. Not many people tuned into Gabbert vs Leinart unless they were in Houston or Jville.

That and the fact that Ray Lewis had 7 tackles while inactive.
