Hope #Texans can find some cap room RT @JasonLaCanfora: Eagles letting it be known that CB Asante Samuel could be had in trade

JasonLaCanfora Jason La Canfora
Its certainly possible. Samuel very likely in his last year in Philly. Eagles already loaded with picks though. Need LBs and linemen

Hmmmmmm, what LB's would we be okay with parting with that would make the Eagles want to give up Samuel.

Throw out Brahman & a 6th, see if they bite.

I thought I saw Samuel get carried off the field last Sunday? It didn't look too good. Might be risky trading for a possibly injured player.

That seems a little shallow doesn't it? Regardless, I doubt they have enough depth to give up anything the Eagles need.

Jamison had a good showing this week.

I wonder what Samuel salary cap number is?

2012: $8.4 million, 2013: $10.4 million, 2014: Free Agent

wow!

They could bring his cap number down with a new contract with a large bonus right?

To make the money work, I think it would have to be Ryans.

I think i would do that Sharpton could replace an 80% health Ryans

Texans would never trade DeMeco

I'd try to make this happen.

Does nothing for a spotty run defense, but it's helps a lot against the pass.

I know. Just said thats the only way we could take his salary.

@AdamSchefter Filed To ESPN: Eagles send CB Asante Samuel and conditional 1st Round pick to 49ers for LB Patrick Willis”

We would need to send about 6-7 million in salary back to the Eagles to make this work. Guys in that range are OD, Ryans, Smith, Schaub or a combination of lower paid guys like KJ and Jacoby. Not gonna happen.

April fools?

Worse trade than Palmer to the Raiders for 2 #1's if true.

Apparently LaCanfora is reporting the same thing, I can't get it to show up on twitter, but someone else posted this:

RT @JasonLaCanfora: Deal to send Asante Samuel and 1st round pick to 49ers for Patrick Willis almost complete..pending contract restructure

Unless I'm being trolled.

You're trading a beastly MLB for a fairly ordinary #1 corner and a possible first round pick? I would riot if the Texans did that.

BigBull17
10-18-2011, 12:07 PM
Why would San Fran do that?

Horrible trade for the best LB in football. I don't think the 9ers would do that.

Plus as a Cowboys fan, I really don't want Willis in the NFC East

I guess they really like Navarro Bowman.

I like Bowman a lot too and I don't think that the Niners are completely mad for doing this...

You should have known by having Patrick Willis involved that it was a fake tweet.

Yeah I was trolled, I saw people "retweeting" fake tweets. I don't use twitter so I guess I need to be a little less naive.

Asante samuel is on the TB. Texans get it done!

I don't want Samuels here.

1) He is a Zone cb, not man. The Texans need another man CB like Joseph, not a Zone CB.

2) He is not a tackler. He is a guy who prefers to push out of bounds than make tackles. He is not strong against the run game.

3) He is too aggressive in going for INTs. It is great when you get an INT, but when you miss it, the receiver can burn you for a bunch of yards. That is his problem. Without a good group of safety, he gets exposed.

I have to disagree. Sharpton is good as a backup, but those are some big Pro Bowl shoes to fill.

Coming off the Achilles injury, Meco has been looking better and better every week. I would want a mid round pick and Samuel on the table before even considering it.

Sharpton isn't close to the player Ryans is. DeMeco is being forced to take on many more coverage responsibilities in this scheme, something he is better at than Cushing so you are just gonna see Cush as more of the run thumper than DeMeco in this system. I think it works.

Amazing people can't see this. It is like Foreman having more tackles one year than Sharper and thinking he was a better LB. Well duh, yeah if the definition of LB was being a safety and making tackles 5 yards past the line of scrimmage.

And the Morlon Greenwood memories come rushing back. He wasn't bad and neither is Sharpton but all they are is " take the safe play" type of players. Complete opposites of DeMeco and Cushing.
