Kevin Walter had a good game.

Defence played well especially against the run.
yes rice had a couple good runs in the 4th but for him to only have 100 yards i think we did well.

Cushing is clearly back to his rookie year.

Tate was good as a back up running back.

Schaub had a good game considering there was a lot of pressure on him and he got pretty banged up.

Positives? I'm tired of positives after losing games. A loss is a loss. We've had nothing but "positives" since Kubiak has the head coach, lots of moral victories. The only positives we don't have are the ones that matter, wins.

The only positive today is that Cowboys are going to lose.

The only positive to me is that we are 3-3 and while most will claim the season over I know that once Andre gets back the team should be alright.

The bad thing is the team is so reliant on Andre Johnson and they have had a lot of time to groom a younger stud of a WR. I'm starting to think that WR is our #1 need now because if we can't stretch the field and spread the box our offense looks average at best.

positives:

1. The Houston cheerleaders are still hot.
2. The worst of the heat is behind us and hopefully the weather will start cooling down for the holidays.
3. Holliday is returning kicks now.....oh wait, he was inactive today.
4. The Ravens cheerleaders are hot, too.

no pregnancy jokes this time, cushing's been a man possessed the last few weeks. demeco needs to step it up big time or he may be on the block with cushing becoming the main man inside. our defense continues to blast the quarterback and has mostly shut down 2 of the best backs in the league on consecutive weeks. we again won the turnover battle, this will be a deciding factor over the course of 16 weeks. we also stuffed the ravens from inside the 2 yard line what 5 times?

the hardest part of our schedule is out of the way, with 5 division games still remaining. if we can get andre back and otherwise stay relatively healthy, i dont expect more than one or two losses the rest of the season. the prediction at this point was "either 3-3 or 4-2, and we'll go 10-6 or better". we're still right there even if the sky is falling for some.

One game closer to a new front office. Of course i thought that last year also. I know a new HC does not automatically make us better, but we know what we have now. All said the big game is against the Titans. I think at some point we will see the other Matt. Of course I don't have alot of confidence in the QB guru (Kubiak) , remember he saw greatness in DanO. How about our losing streak is only 2. Just don't feel real good when Foster and AJ both have hamstring issues. D is better, how about that.

The worst of our schedule is likely behind us.

The road to 8-8 is paved with that kind of expectation. I sincerely hope the Texans aren't thinking that.

I don't see too many teams left on our schedule that can't beat us under the right circumstances. This is the NFL, Rice and UTEP never appear on the schedule. The Texans are 3-3 but we're not a healthy team. The defense is going to keep getting better but the offense seems to be regressing at equal speed.

Yep.

Problem with Jacoby is he's too up and down and inconsistent. He'll have a game like this where he'll flash then the next week look pretty bad.

I was really close to thinking of him as a positive for this game but he needs to put this together for consecutive games.

Positives : Defense is slightly better and definitely more physical. AJ continues to heal. No new major injuries. Tate looked healthy as did Foster.

Negatives : Smithiak remains employed. Kareem Jackson remains employed. Outscored 89-40 in 2nd Half. Still giving up big plays.

Our schedule isn't as easy as we thought preseason either.

Let's get real here. The defense played better than I thought they would, still learning a new system, Mario missed the whole game, & we still can't figure out who our 2nd best CB is...

but if you can't stop the run in the 4th Qtr, you can't stop the run. If you allow three scores on four possessions in the 4th Qtr, that's not good. & we're not talking about Drew Brees here.

They scored 30 on us, that's not good.

Flacco is 48-49% on the year? he was 60% today.... not good.

Every year, teams get into the play-offs by taking advantage of a weak schedule. That's when the talented teams improve their game, it's like a live practice for them.

We'll perfect out technique, hone our game plans, gel as a team....

Backing into the play-offs would be not taking advantage of the upcoming schedule & win the division at 9-7...

Didn't see the game, so what I want to know from you guys is this:

1. What did Derrick Mason do today? Haven't checked the boxscore yet.

2. Sounds like Jacoby did better, which is relative when we get down to it. But seriously, what do you think made him better today? Was he running better routes or were they putting him into routes that didn't require him to be a good route runner (if that's even possible)?

3. How did our pass rush look without Mario? Was it Brooks Reed in his place, or was it a rotation of guys, and how did Brooks Reed or other guys in Mario's position do today? I was worried Brooks Reed wouldn't do any better than he did against the Raiders last week.

4. Were we really "in" the game at all, or was it an uphill battle all game long and we weren't really going to have chances to take momentum and win it? What was the overall flow of the game and what was our downfall?

Seems people are just glad we're done with the Saints-Steelers-Ravens games. I sort of have a bad feeling that when teams like Tampa Bay end up beating New Orleans...it means these upcoming Texans opponents might not get the memo that they should lay down and roll over for us.

I mean, if Ray Rice got 100+ on us, what the hell you think the Jags are going to do to us? Run, run, and run some more. And we all know what MJD has done to us historically.

Answers in bold:

Didn't see the game, so what I want to know from you guys is this:

1. What did Derrick Mason do today? Haven't checked the boxscore yet.
He had a few catches on 3rd down. He played very well and his timing seemed to be very good for only having 2 practices

2. Sounds like Jacoby did better, which is relative when we get down to it. But seriously, what do you think made him better today? Was he running better routes or were they putting him into routes that didn't require him to be a good route runner (if that's even possible)?
He caught a big TD pass and ran a great route. No major drops. He played like Walter did last week. The problem is Walter didn't do too much.

3. How did our pass rush look without Mario? Was it Brooks Reed in his place, or was it a rotation of guys, and how did Brooks Reed or other guys in Mario's position do today? I was worried Brooks Reed wouldn't do any better than he did against the Raiders last week.

The pass rush was good, but we definitely missed MW. Barwin had several pressures, Jamison had a sack, fumble and recovery. The pressure was great in the first half and non-existent (it seemed) in the second.

4. Were we really "in" the game at all, or was it an uphill battle all game long and we weren't really going to have chances to take momentum and win it? What was the overall flow of the game and what was our downfall?
Had a lead in the 3rd (14-13). Then couldn't get into scoring range the rest of the game. We had a chance to win it down 19-14 but our offense sputtered

Seems people are just glad we're done with the Saints-Steelers-Ravens games. I sort of have a bad feeling that when teams like Tampa Bay end up beating New Orleans...it means these upcoming Texans opponents might not get the memo that they should lay down and roll over for us.

The problem is Walter didn't do too much.

Walter had more catches 6-52 than JJ did 4-76 .....

OD didnt do much 2-13 .... But he did get a lot of attention by the Ravens D. On the JJ TD play he had four Ravens defenders covering on a crossing pattern.

Foster 6-52 dropped a couple that could have changed the complexion game in the first half.

Mason had 3-27.

No one else caught a pass.

just how good is your defense when Baltimore scores 30 on you?

When you look at the number of points allowed alone , it doesnt look so good ..... But when you take it in the context of how the game went .... That 29 Looks like it could have been much more because of the offenses inability to do a damn thing.

Five FG's ?

The Ravens only had three trips in which they crossed the Texans 20 yard line ..... 5 attempts to score from within the 1.

I think the defense played a hell of a game .... They knocked Flacco around all day long , forced some bad throws and a fumble. Probably their best game as a unit ..... 29 points allowed or not.

Their RB had a good game against us because of....Vonte Leach. MJD is a threat, but at least he doesn't have Vonte Leach blocking for him.

J.J. did better because some of his routes did not call for a hard, sudden change in direction. The TD pass in particular was just the kind of route he'd be good at running, but not what a prototypical WR usually runs. He still can't run routes; he's just a fast guy who can catch--a deep threat with no route-running abilities.

They scored nearly 30 points on our D because our O couldn't keep the ball in the 4th qtr. without A.J. on the field and because they kicked a FG very near the end when it was really over anyway. Our O's ineptness wore out our D.

I'll tell you what disappointed me in this game: O.D. = 2 catches for 13 yds... I thought O.D. would either burn Pollard a lot or cause the receivers to burn them.

.

If you simply look at the score or the stats ..... and the W , I'd agree that the Pit game looked better.

But Baltimore is a much better team who they limited to three red zone attempts and five FG's.

If the offense would have been able to generate anything substantial in the second half ....

Yeah , I was dissappointed with OD's play ..... 2-13 is not what you expect from your best option ..... tho the Ravens D did have a lot to do with his poor showing , often having three or more defenders around him in zone coverage.

This offense looks ..... pathetic without #80. Its painfully obvious to me that he allows them to do so many things that they just cant do without him .... the running game is suffering something serious without him on the field.

30 points isn't a stat. its a score. it's why you play the game. to score.

I hope you were just trying to get a rise out of Vinny, because if you were serious I have to question your sanity.

The defense is better than last year slightly and is more physical for sure. But still Baltimore, a shitty offense, dropped 30 on us. We gave up scores 3 times in the 4th. That is unacceptable by any measure.

If we lose to the Titans, Kubiak needs to be dead-man-walking.

Nice participation ribbon blast, Vinny. I couldn't agree more.
