QUOTE OF THE DAY

Antonio Smith, when asked how important the next game is because itís the Steelers: ďMe personally, I got to say it, I just donít like them. They took my Super Bowl from me. They got my rings in their back pocket. I ainít ever going to forget that. Thereís a couple snaps out there I wish I could have had back, so every time I play them, they going to get the ninja and the dog, two in one.Ē

It's good to know that our best defensive player will have a extra chip on his shoulder this week.

P.S.

Anybody laughing at me now for calling this guy our best defensive player? :)

I saw Antonio & the whole defensive line disappear when Mario got hurt last Sunday.

Yes, I'm still laughing

yeah, i have noticed most of A.S 3 sacks have been when Mario and him are on the same side. I still think he;s a good player, but like AJ, Mario makes everyone on the D-line better.

LMAO :vincepalm: Yeah, because it's Mario who makes this defense go :ahhaha: Yep, Mario Williams....the greatest decoy the NFL has seen since Reggie Bush. (Seriously, is that what you've resorted to?)

Keep laughing, Smith will just keep on performing while shutting people up in the process.

Actually, Antonio Smith probably would. He's a huge Mario Williams fan.

Except he isn't like AJ. You see AJ performs and produces EVERY week while making teammates better. AJ is a gamebreaker/game changer. There really is no comparison.

And what does this have to do with anything I said above? Seriously.

:) Antonio is a Mario fan and Antonio "probably" would. I didn't know you were the voice of Antonio Smith. Speculation at it's best.

I think Antonio is a bad ass as well. I think it is silly that some here would like to create a wedge pitting one player vs another.

I like all our Texans.

We need Mario & Antonio to do what they do to get to where we want to go.

WELL TBH

In 8 seasons Smith has 26 sacks. His Lowest was 2.5 Sacks. he has 154 tackles. He has 7 Forced fumbles.

In 6 season Williams has 50 sacks. Lowest season which was rookie was 4.5 sacks. He has 187 tackles. he has 11 Forced Fumbles.

Looking at those i would say Mario has been far more than a decoy.

Yeah, when you deliberately use the word probably, it tends to signify speculation. Sorry, next time I'll use the /speculation BB code.

Yeah, because those two players read this board and our comments are causing a wedge between them.

I didn't create the wedge...I was asked who I thought was our best defensive player...answered the question and then was laughed at. I like Mario (wish he was more consistent, but I like him) however he is NOT our best defensive player. If answering a question honestly is "creating some mythical wedge", then I guess I'm guilty of being a "wedge creator".

What's creating a wedge around here is how some people get butt hurt every time certain players are criticized.

??? What are you talking about now.

your response wasn't backed up by anything except Antonio is a "Mario Williams fan". Guess what, I'm a "Mario Williams fan" too and I want him to succeed...doesn't mean I think he's the best defender on this defense.

In THIS defense, THIS year, on This current team. Smith is a better defender. Mario has not been the same player that he was the first couple of seasons (due to injury or whatnot) and it looks like Antonio Smith was made for this defense. Career #s are irrelevant in this discussion.

You sound pretty butt hurt right now.

I don't have a problem criticizing Mario. He's got a lot to work on, which shouldn't be the case 6 years in to his career.

ur the one that said mario would remain to be a decoy, remain means the past. Plus mario is learning a new position, and since mario and Antonio line up on the same side a lot is it really any surprise that antonio is getting in the back field so oftne now ???? seriously do the math

Umm...actually I'm not the one who said "he would remain a decoy". In fact I NEVER said that at all, hell nobody in this thread ever said that. (So where are you getting this "remain means the past" stuff from?)

Thunderkss is the one who is acting like the only reason why this dline is getting off is just because of Mario being on the field, despite not getting results on the field (Yep has nothing to do with super talented J.J. Watt or Smith straight beasting)...that's the definition of the "decoy excuse" that Saints fans used for Bush. Would love to see where you got the "he will remain to be" line from...I would greatly appreciate it if you didn't stick words in my mouth. Thank you.

Mario has never lived up to being the first pick in the draft. But considering Bush and Sausage Boy, he was a good pick. And without him, the defense isn't as good.

And this is something I 100% agree with. He was absolutely the right pick over those two players and the defense wouldn't be as good without him.

ok but answer me this, do you think Mario lining up on the same side as him has anything to do with Smith already having 3 sacks ?

Has something to do with it...yes, but not the main thing or remotely close to the main thing. Go watch a replay of tonights AFC matchups (or whatever they call that show on NFLN) that aired tonight. They broke down some of Smith's sacks. One was J.J. Watt running a stunt where he drew a double team off of Antonio Smith, which broke him lose to sack the QB. Hell I'll go as far to say J.J. Watt has had a bigger impact on Smiths sacks than Mario Williams

Sorry, but it's extremely naive to act like the only reason why Antonio Smith (or anybody else on this defensive line) has been able to produce is because Mario Williams is on the field....especially since Smith has been gang busters since the first preseason game while Mario has struggled. Give the guy his freaking props...Smith is creating a LOT of his own opportunities also. He's having a pro bowl caliber year and yet everybody wants to write it off.

I never said Mario Williams was a crap player. You can be a quality player on this defense without being the best defender on this defense. If we want to field the type of defense that many of us hope for...we need to have more of that. (quality players at multiple positions....now we just need a quality #2 corner and a NT to complete the puzzle)
