View Full Version : All Encompassing Final Waiver Wire Thread

Between now and tomorrow afternoon, all 32 NFL teams will be reducing their 80 man rosters to 53. That means that in the next 28 or 29 hours there will over 850 players who will be trimmed from someone's roster. A few of those will go to IR, and an even fewer number will go on the reserve PUP list, but the vast majority will be available to other teams.

We can use this thread to throw out the names of roster cuts that surprise and/or interest us.

While it's only a rumor (just like Colt McCoy getting cut a year ago was), the one potential cut that interests me the most right now is Brandon Tate with the Pats. If he is cut, I'd like to see the Texans take a chance on him.

Isn't Brandon Tate also a kick returner? I recall him getting a few TD's last year for the Pats.

Yeah, he returned two for TD's and was 7th in average yards per return for those with over 10 returns.

Definitely a better option than Holliday. Put him at #5 WR or something.

It would also lead to complicated jersey backs. Br. Tate and Be. Tate possible jersey name combos, which would be epic, at least in my convuleted mind.

I sure hope Rick Smith is watching that waiver wire for a NT, depth at DE, depth at ILB and OLB, and depth at OG/C. We have some decent backups at a few positions but we could sure use some better quality depth at alot of positions.

Zac Diles released by the Rams.

Off-topic... But is anyone else tired of going to nfl.com and seeing news start to load - and then all of a sudden it jumps to FANTASY FOOTBALL? It is getting on my damn nerves.

They've re-designed some things making it harder to navigate and find what you want.

That's for sure.

I am waiting for the Steelers to cut a punter... Maynard does not pass the ccdude730 test.

The Patriots release Brandon Tate.

I'd really like to see him as a Texan. Probably a better option at the 5th WR spot than anyone currently on board. Makes any thoughts of Holliday irrelevant (although I hope there aren't any serious thoughts of Holliday to begin with), and is arguably a better kick return guy than Manning. I'm not one of those scared about Manning's health, but if you can find someone even better who may actually provide something as a receiver, why not do it?

There's currently 7 CB's on the roster. I don't believe we'll actually have that many when the season starts. Roc Carmichael to the PS?

Barber

Barber

That would leave us with only three safetys, and right or wrong, I figured ST play would lock up a spot for Barber.

Carmichael could still go to the IR, right? He's got that shoulder that's kept him out of everything.

See post immediately above yours. They can always negotiate an injury settlement and release him - ala Jeremiah Johnson from a year ago.

Apparently they kept Sepulveda over Kapinos, but I would have done the same. Kapinos could be a good pickup. I believe he can handle kickoff duties as well

I would love to see Kapinos on the Texans. That guy can really boom some kicks.

In addition to the injury, he's a fourth round draft choice who hasn't put a single play on tape since being drafted. I don't know the extent of his injury, so with that disclaimer, yeah - I'd take the chance that no team would cut someone already on their 53 man roster to add this guy, but fortunately for all of us, I'm not the one making those calls.

Cut Vickers or IR Carmichael as I dont think he would clear waivers.

And another confirmed waiver claim of a former Patriot. RT @ProFootballTalk: Bengals claim Brandon Tate on waivers.
