NFL Rushing and TD Leader, Arian Foster, to Host National Radio Show

Weekly, Hour-Long Show to Air on Yahoo! Sports Radio Network

HOUSTON (August 16, 2011)– Today, Texans’ All-Pro Running Back, Arian Foster, announced an exclusive partnership with KGOW 1560 AM and Yahoo! Sports Radio Network for the 2011 NFL season. The “Arian Foster Show” will air Thursday nights at 6 p.m. CST on more than 180 stations nationwide and Sirius Satellite Radio. The new show will feature exclusive insights from one of the most thoughtful and outspoken players in the NFL. Foster’s show will cover topics including: a behind-the-scenes look at the Texans and the NFL; commentary and thoughts regarding upcoming games; interviews with notable Texans and their opponents; and insightful discussion and debate with network hosts, Bob Berger and Craig Shemon.

“This show will be about football from the insider’s perspective. Anyone who knows me knows that I call it like I see it. I am a serious football player and an avid student of the game. Fans around the country want to hear a forthright and honest take on what is going on around the league so they will get that,” said Foster. “But I am more than a football player. I am a father, a poet and a free-thinker, so we are going to get into some other cool things as our discussions take us wherever they will. This show is definitely not going to be your run-of-the-mill football ‘talking-head’ kind of thing. This show will be edgy, fun and unlike anything sports fans have heard before. I have opinions about practically everything and I am not afraid to share them.”

In addition to the weekly “Arian Foster Show,” Sports Radio 1560 “The Game” will air a call-in show with John Granato every Monday morning during the season at 8:05 a.m. CST featuring Foster. On Tuesdays at noon, Foster and well-known, sports pundit, Sean Pendergast, will produce a live, 30-minute local show every week from a Houston eatery.

“Arian is a big time talent, both on and off the field. We are thrilled to have him on 1560 ‘The Game’ and on Yahoo! Sports Radio,” said David Gow, President of Yahoo! Sports Radio.

About Arian Foster

Arian Foster led the NFL in rushing and touchdowns in 2010 as running back for the Houston Texans. After going undrafted from the University of Tennessee, Foster burst onto the NFL scene on opening day last season with a 231 yard, three-touchdown performance against the Indianapolis Colts. He spent the season locked in a tight battle with the Kansas City Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles for the NFL rushing title. Foster rushed for 180 yards with two touchdowns in the final game of the 2010 season to capture the title. His 1,616 rushing yards and 604 receiving yards are the most combined yards from scrimmage ever by an undrafted player. Foster earned an ESPY for Best Performance of 2010 (of any athlete) and has been featured in The New York Times and Washington Post. The Sporting News featured Foster on the cover of the July 18, 2011 issue with the headline, “Arian Foster, The Most Interesting Man in the NFL.” A philosophy major at the University of Tennessee, Foster is married to former German television performer and singer, Romina Reinhardt. Foster and his wife have a 2-year-old daughter, Zanaya. Foster works closely with The Boys and Girls Clubs and other nonprofits, and most recently worked tirelessly to raise funds for Alabama tornado victims with Subway.

3 radio shows a week? That's quite a bit on Foster's plate during the season. May not be a big deal. But if he doesn't have another Pro Bowl season, there will be questions regarding Arian's media obligations.

At least not only Foster getting attention nationally but the Texans as well.
I just hope he will be able to focus football first!
