Maybe they are releasing guys who have no logical shot and really wouldn't get much time in the pre season games.

Texans had 4 fb's on the roster. Would be tough to get all if those guys burn before the first cuts are made. plus the were probably struggling to get them reps in practice.

Release them now and they have a better shot at finding another team.

Or there is always the McNair is cheap option and is trying to cut payroll.

I think they may be clearing space for some other guys.

And Kubiak has been known to cut fringe guys that aren't bringing it in practice.

They may have loaded up the FB before they knew they had Vickers and so now they've got a glut at that position and can't get this guy reps.

Don't know about the DE, though.

I just read an article saying dobbins put us at 86 or something.

Not saying you are wrong because I surely don't know.
