I was screaming at them to draft him. Why did Pitt let him go?

He was injured last year, and they had to bring in another kicker who performed well, and Sepulveda makes big money for a kicker. I wanna say he was a 1st or 2nd round pick, but I could be wrong.

Apparently, he's injury prone.

In other news, it appears the Steelers will part ways with oft-injured punter Daniel Sepulveda, who is an unrestricted free agent.

Pittsburgh signed rookie free agent Aaron Bates, a Michigan State product, Wednesday. With veteran Jeremy Kapinos already on the roster, it would appear the chances of bringing back Sepulveda are slim.

A fourth-round draft pick in 2007, Sepulveda has suffered a torn ACL twice, including one last season.

Is Turk going to retire?

Hmm. If healthy he is a boomer. He would be an upgrade over Turk.

Correction, he's VERY injury prone, I wanted to get him in the draft, but I've soiled on him over the years, he struggles placing punts inside the 20's as well. I'd rather have Hartmann

This is not someone who should be truly considered the classic "injury proned" player. He has actually had THREE ACL repairs on the same knee........the RIGHT KNEE..........and he is a LEFT-FOOTED PUNTER.

The real story is that he sustained his first ACL tear at Baylor in a freak set of events. This is part of the story that not too many people realize. Shortly after taking home the Ray Guy Award, Daniel partially tore his right ACL in December of 2004 playing basketball. An MRI on the knee was read as "clear". Unaware of the partial ACL tear in his right knee, he played the entire 2005 season. When the NFL scouts came for Baylor Junior Pro Day on April 18, 2006, Daniel ran 2 very good times in the 40 impressing the pro scouts in attendance. Then 2 days later, while home with friends, Daniel hurt his right knee while playing basketball. Choosing to consult another orthopedist, the MRI from 2004 was compared with the new 2006 MRI. It was then that he was told Daniel that the ACL was actually partially torn in December 2004 and the new injury just completed the tear.

He then had the repair performed and pushed (against medical advice) to get back on the field only 4 months after the surgery. That was not long enough to rehab safe muscle strength. He then re-tore his right ACL (which had bothered him ever since he rushed back to play) and missed the 2008 season following that repair.

The last ACL tear occurred December of last year when he got tangled up covering a punt return. He caught his cleats in the artificial turf. He refused to leave the game and said he wanted to help his teammates, which he did by holding on extra points and field goals for the remainder of the game.

This guy is a warrior, and chances are good that he can avoid further injury with just a little more concern directed to himself. His other foot should be able to return to canon status. He would make the Texans proud.

It is good he is a warrior even if he is not too smart with his body. If he is signed I hope he listens to his trainers.

He is a REAL all-around athlete.........some would consider him freakishly so. He has the speed of some of the top WRs and RBs in the league.......a 4.40 40. In HS, he played QB and LB. In fact, at Baylor he was a walk-on LB. Then they discovered his punting ability, something that he had not done since junior HS..........and it's been history ever since. As Tomlin found out last year, he is a legitimate option as a kick-off specialist in the NFL when needed. Even though a punter, he has maintained this skill with continued practice over the years.

A VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyiQWjUi_vk&feature=related) of his LB prowess at Baylor.

His hard-hitting, sure-tackling LB side still survives in the NFL:

Maybe not the greatest NFL QB, but his ability could still be interesting if used in occasional fake situations. VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYp90cPcHeM&NR=1")

This guy had one hell of a leg in college. I remember the game A&M lost to Baylor and it had a lot to do with this guy setting the Aggies back in field position. He was booting it from around the Baylor 20 to inside the A&M 20 on the bounce. Excellent prospect at the time, too bad he got hurt so much.

it's a shame he can't seem to understand that playing basketball in his free time is costing him millions in potential salary. I could understand if he went to Tech, but I thought Baylor folks would be smarter than that. If the Texans get him I hope they work in an agreement that he won't play bball in his free time.

4th downs in your own territory are going to be kind of hard if you don't have someone to kick the ball away. Just saying. Maybe Schaub can just pooch kick it.

Like I said above , they did bring in a punter (and KO specialist) , Brett Hartmann.

I would assume that they will bring in others as well .... there will be many on the scrap heap in the coming days.

Just because they havent brought in a name guy yet , doesnt mean much at this point ... We're two weeks from the first preseason game. I'll worry more if who they have no looks like crap and they dont address it.
