I would feel more comfortable if we had a better back up QB. This guy is on the team just because Smithiak doesn't want to admit they made a huge personnell mistake.

Players can make "agreements" but they're not official until they're signed contracts. When the Seahawks brought in Tavaris Jackson Leinhart probably asked them what his future would likely be with them and they probably said "Third String", essentially both the seahawks and ML probably backed out of the agreement after that

I can't say I really feel good about it, but I feel better about Leinart than Dano.

This is my thought. Additionally, if someone looses a QB mid season we could trade them for picks and move TJ to back up. He should have some looks at the offense by then.

I don't expect him to be here next year, but taking all that money saved and putting it towards Leinart seems like a waste. Would much rather get a guy for near minimum and put that money towards other free agents.

I think this is a good move for us because it creates competition for the back up Spot. If leinart and Dan o play well then you have some good trade bait.

Why trade?

Leinart was on the street, pretty much. If a team coveted him, they could have just made him an offer.

Unless it's a team he didn't want to go to. And if that's the case, he would still have stayed on the market until someone needed him.

I'm surprised he re-signed so quickly.
