But Ya'll are having a pretty crappy offseason. 2nd and 3rd for that waste of space from Oakland? Getting rid of any linebackers worth a darn. RESIGNING COREY BRADFORD.

You gotta think the life expectancy in Houston just dropped a full year.

this coming from a team that has consistantly done worse than an expansion team in the last 3 years?

Consistancy is important in any team sport, and with the relatively young age of our team there are many players still improving. If we hadn't won more games than you since we came into the league we could use the crutch that we are an expansion team, but we don't need to, whats your excuse?

Don't forget we signed the Jamiacan Sensation Morlon Greenwood who will take over for Sharper, don't be decieved by the number of takles foreman and Sharper had over the last few years, the 3-4 defense funnels players to the inside linebackers, they can't help but get tackles. Notice Foreman is still on the market and Sharper signed a pretty small deal in Seattle.

Also maybe you shouldn't rip on another team when you have a castoff QB challenging for the starting job. You don't even have everything under center squared away, and charles rogers is a collarbone injury away from being a trivia question.

A 2nd and 3rd rounder in a weak draft for a proven game breaker is fine by me...

Foreman? Worth a darn? Sharper, who had similar stats to Foreman but made $5M per year more than him? Worth a darn? Sharper was probably "worth a darn", but he's easily replaceable...Wow, he gets a lot of tackles in a D that is framed around getting the ILBs tackles, big whoop...

OMG we gave Bradford a 1 year contract to be depth, we're screwed!!!11!!!!one!!!eleven!!

Don't you wish that Detroit would have had anyone BUT Erik Kramer as your QB when y'all played Washington (in the NFC Championship Game) in 1991.

Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed you are 20 years old. You were hardly alive when they went to the Championship Game.

Anyway, Blu I hope thats true.
2nd and 3rd pick in this draft could have been offensive line.

You were in position to take one of the best CB's in the first, and get top prospects on the line the rest of the way.

But trading these 2 picks for a CB that is ....well..average. I just don't get it. And rip on your LB's all you want. These were vets with proven production. Who is going to replace them? Chamberlin and Polk? Who? And Greenwood, his last year with the phins was the exception to the rule, not the norm. How are these positions going to be upgraded without any draft picks!

As for Bradford, well, I guess there wasn't much choice in that one. No one better, no one worse.

Jeff Garcia isn't going to start in Detroit, so I could care less. Our Backup has been to a probowl and the playoffs and is good for 7 games a year, I fail to see how that is a terrible thing to have. He's in his system, with his coach, with "hopefully" 3 talented targets in the passing game.

I just don't see why a team with alot of holes is trading multiple draft picks for 1 player, when they can get a better player with the first round pick. I would be pulling my hair out!

Cause we dont have multiple holes :).. we have a couple of holes and a couple of depth issues.

CBs are important in our division.. and I think the Colts, Jags, and Tacks are in denial about Buchanan. Having a CB of Buchanans abilities playing nickle is going to make take our secondary from "very good" to "one of the best in the league"

our ability to cover is going to improve our pass rush.. especially with the speed we have been adding to our LBs. OLB MAY not even be a hole anymore because Peek may be able to start for us now that we have the improved coverage ability. Though we will have to see on that.

So.. really.. where does that leave us with a hole?

We signed bradford back.. so WR really isnt an issue anymore. Would be NICE to IMPROVE our WRs.. but it isnt going to hurt us if we dont. We still have DD Hollings and Wells so RB is not a hole.. but again it would be NICE to IMPROVE it.

Basicly.. we have no holes.. just places that it would be NICE to IMPROVE.

I would say we just gave ourselves a good chance of grabbing the wildcard this season.

Right now it looks like Greenwood and Wong will play the inside. Greenwood adds speed and coverage ability that need Sharper nor Foreman possesses. I'm not sure if Wong will excell inside or be a stopgap, only time will tell.

My take on the situation is that we give up a second rounder and a spare third rounder for a proven starter in the NFL at the cb position and use our first pick for whatever position (other than cb) our front office is exploring right now. You can't say we could've gotten a better cb in the first round because you don't know how any of those guys will do at the pro level, with P-Buck you do. Our guys know what tweeking and tuning is needed to make P-Buck a pro bowler. For several months I've seen alot of people on this board talking about our defense needing an attitude, excitement, etc. Between D-Rob, Peek, and P-Buck, it's a start. I think Babin will be entering this year with some fire as well. JMO

I didn't hear the interview but I would guess that next year 5 CB's would be Buchannon, Glenn, Robinson, Faggins and Sanders. 1 FS (Coleman) would be on the field most of the time and Glenn Earl would probably come off. This would be dependant on down and distance.

I for one hope Blu is right. I think the Corners were no the Texans problem. It was a lack of pass rush. When you arre at the bottom of the league each year in sacks it is going to make it tough on your corners. We all know that Andre isn't much of a threat when Carr only has a second in the pocket. If Blu is right I know Lavar isn't too happy in Washington right now.

i like the move to add buchanon, but why put d-rob in the slot after the year he just had playing opposite glenn? I say put buchanon on the slot because he has more speed and the slot is typically a more speedy receiver who runs more complicated routes. On blitzing downs, i'd say put robinson in the slot, but that's all. I think d-rob has better coverage skills than buchanon and he's about to catch glenn. That's just my opinion on the matter, i'd like to hear some feedback from everybody else. With the 1st round pick, do you think we go barron or one of the hybrids available in the draft? Like a merriman or ware, anyway, that's it for now, later.

D-ReK

Robinson played the slot all of last season...When we went to nickle packages, Glenn played LCB and Faggins played RCB with D-Rob in the slot to take advantage of his pass rushing ability...

being in Dallas, the only plays i normally got to see D-rob make were the highlights on ESPN, which were typically the picks he made on the outside or him blitzing from the slot, which is what i made the reference to, I only get to see a handful of Texans games, which makes me sad :thumbdown, so i appreciate you guys slapping me and giving me that info, i'll try to keep up more next season, well, that's all for now, and by the way, from what i've seen, the Texans are way better than the cowboys, who by the way i get to watch every single week. :thumbdown, but soon enough i'll be able to afford Sunday Ticket and see every game the Texans have to offer :thumbup , well, that's all, talk to y'all later.

Hey, all I gotta say is, this is more a make or break season for Harrington and the Lions than it is Texans. If you look at Lions, they have their RB, you have 2 1st round WR'ers in Rogers and Williams, you also got Kevin Johnson in the slot, you got one of the best DT's in the league in Rogers, you have Boss Bailey and Teddy Lehman at LB, you have Bly and Bryant(solid) at corner... if ya'll dont make playoffs this year - I feel sorry for Roy Williams =[

Walker, Payne, Smith
Babin, Greenwood, Wong
Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Faggins, Coleman

Looks like we're going to be seeing less of Glenn Earl...

When the Texans go into the nickle, the NT comes out and they go into a 4 man front with two LB's.
Simmons comes in to play safety.

Babin, Walker, Smith, Peek
Greenwood, Wong
Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Simmons (SS), Coleman (FS)

In the dime package, usually Walker or Smith comes out, but maybe a LB.

Babin, Walker, Peek
Greenwood, Wong
Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Faggins, Simmons (SS), Coleman (FS)

An interesting thing to follow this year would be how much playing time Buchanon, Faggins, Simmons, and Lewis Sanders each get. Buchanon probably really eats into Faggins playing time. Sanders and Simmons are probably going to fight it out for a roster spot as the big corner and strong safety in passing situations.

A 2nd and 3rd rounder in a weak draft for a proven game breaker is fine by me...

Didn't you make this same post in the first thread about the Buchanon trade...

WTF?!?! Why would we trade for Phillip Buchanan? Hasn't he been a disappointment in Oakland, and hasn't he been classified as a "cancer" (I hate that term but couldn't come up with a better one)...I'm not sure what we gave up for him, but hopefully it wasn't more that a 3rd rounder since we could probably draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd that would be better than him...

First you were hoping it wasn't more than a 3rd rounder so that the Texans would still be in a position to draft a CB that would be better.

After it's made public that the Texans gave up a 3rd and well as a 2nd you're fine with it because he's a "proven gamebreaker in a weak draft".

Personally, I think it's a good deal. He's only 24 and I think I read he's only due to make $800K this season. He should also be able to replace whatever y'all were going to use a return man (at least on punts anyway).

Any early ideas as to who he replaces or will he play nickel behind Robinson and Glenn?

MORE TRUTH & RUMORS: MLB | NBA

The Redskins said they would consider all options with regard to their two first-round picks in this weekend's draft, including moving up, trading down or picking two players. When asked during yesterday's news conference if the team would consider packaging the ninth and 25th picks to move into the top five, owner Daniel Snyder responded, "Absolutely."
-- Washington Post

One scenario from an agent yesterday that might work for the Redskins: Trade the No. 9 pick to a team that wants a defensive lineman, perhaps San Diego or Houston, which have the 12th and 13th picks respectively. Because Detroit (pick No. 10) and Dallas (No. 11) are expected to take defensive players, moving ahead of them would allow the Chargers or Texans to take Johnson, Maryland linebacker-defensive end Shawne Merriman or Demarcus Ware of Troy.
-- Washington Post
SI.com (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/scorecard/04/21/truth.rumors.nfl/index.html)

IMO... I love the trade, anything to stop Payton and the Colts is a plus. Now we have the talent to hold Stokley. :howdy: But! and there is a But, if we can move up and get either Benson or Johnson from UT, that would even be sweeter.

While Buch may have been a good addition, a second round pick is steep. Just using the Lions for an example, in the past several draft, the Lions have gotten Boss Bailey, Teddy Lehman, Shaun Rogers, and used an extra second to move back into the first and get Kevin Jones. Corey Redding? Uh, he may have been a third. My point is, there are many potention probowlers to be had in the second round. Do you think Buch will be a prowbowler? Just curious, I'll be honest and admit I haven't seen him play much.

Also, someone said this is a weak draft, I disagree. It is a very deep draft, there just isn't any 'for sure' picks, except maybe DJ. It is weak on top end talent, but very deep.

While Buch may have been a good addition, a second round pick is steep.

I don't think a 2nd Round pick is that big of a price for a quality starting CB. Keep in mind the Dolphins are asking for a 2nd Round pick and more from KC in exchange for Patrick Surtain. Furthermore, Indy and Seattle are seeking a 2nd round pick and more in exchange for Edge and Alexander. PB is still in his rookie contract, and as far as CBs go he'll be a bargain for us. He'll be reunited with his former teamate in AJ, and our DB Coach (Hoke) is great at getting the best out of his players. PB has performed well in Oakland, but he's made a habit of taking big risks. I feel that Hoke will be able to make PB more disciplined, and his production will likely increase. If he got 11 ints in 3 years playing undisciplined I can only imagine how well he'll perform once Hoke gets some time to coach him up.
