.. from a discussion on another MB.. about why Jamie went cheaply to the Seahawks. Could explain why he didn't have a great year in 04 like the two previous.
Sharper is a high-mileage player and a potential knee problem was detected during the physical he took for the Seahawks.

Hmmm....A MLB in the last year of his contract that had a potential knee problem while we are trying to avoid injuries to major players on our team now. Something tells me the Texans knew this and made the adjustment.

Aren't these new contracts signed by FAs always subject to an exaustive
physical exam ?

I was mad when I first heard they cut Sharper, but now I see why. At least they were classy enough not to tell anyone and hurt his value to other teams.

If this played a major role in why we cut him, you can see why we are on a message board and Casserly and Co are in the front office.

Yes this would make a lot more sense then just cutting him for salary cap reasons. If this is true then I would agree to cutting since they said they had no intention of bringing him back next year (which didn't make sense either unless they knew about the injury). I'm guessing they were thinking that he would be a little banged up going into training game and would need time to recover and were not willing to spend $6m or restructure to do it.
