Nope, I like the list he has. No offensive players till the 4th round at least. Kerley from TCU will be there too in the 4th hopefully :bender:

I am very excited for our defense. I think Kareem will pan out, how many CBs play well their first year? He was also a hard working determined player like these two guys we have.

If Wade is only here for a little while at least we'll see how defenses should be built. The pressure this front 7 gets should make it so much easier when these guys don't have to cover for 4-6 whole seconds.

Dutchrudder
04-29-2011, 06:05 PM
I'm hoping for a good NT in the 3rd. Good CBs will be available in free agency, NT's are more difficult to find.

This could reinvigorate Cushing. He'll think he's playing next to Mathews like days of old.

I say go NT or CB in the third round.

I say go S in the 3d - unless a NT like Paea falls... I really want us to draft a veteran CB (if not Aso, perhaps Taylor), and I think some of those S can step in and contribute day 1.

Texans were willing to trade up with New England to get Brooks Reed at pick 33; smart gamble staying put

Rahim Moore to Denver

Then that means Wade Phillips really really really wanted Brooks Reed.

If that report is true, and the Texans were contemplating moving up to get him at 33, then that means Brooks Reed wasn't a consolation prize we took just because a targeted guy wasn't there for us at 42. Wade wanted Brooks Reed.

Helping the defense. That's a good sign. No project picks at WR or TE or RB. Just sticking with gritty, scrappy Defense players.

And what I really like: those guys are hard workers that always give 100% on every play - that is huge. It could be infectious and get guys like MW off their asses on some plays. Those are guys that do everything to win - that put the team before themselves (at least it seems like it) - those are the kinda guys we need. Im ecstatic.

Never question the son of Bum lol!!

j/k This is Wade's draft to try and bail this D out of a hole. Even before he was coaching he was scouting D talent for the old man.

I say let him pick whoever he wants where ever he wants and then let him go shopping in FA for what he still wants. I think he can find diamonds in the rough in FA without having to spend it all on one of two big names.

If he doesnt get it right this year he could be out after 1 year with the Kubiak staff.

Well as a possible first round talent to get him now is ok.

Dang was hoping we kept our 3rd, ah well lets go!

We gave up our 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick which might've been a camp fodder, career back-up for a player picked in the 2nd round. This is like trading a 3rd round pick and Frank Okam for an impact player. Our 2nd round picks has been gold so far (during the Smitiak Regime), albeit it's only been DeMeco and Connor

Effin' steal IMO, and it's Brandon Harris!!

EASILY the best 1st - 3rd round since 2006. Funny thing - in 2006 Casserly was running the draft, and in 2011 this draft has Wade Phillips shoe prints all over it. If anyone thinks that Rick Smith is picking these guys, they are smoking something. Rick Smith needs to be tied up, blindfolded, and thrown in the cloak closet every draft day. Rick Smith was the guy that was killing our defense. He had NO clue at all.

It's amazing to see what can happen when someone that understands defense is making the picks. Amazing picks, and I actually think we have a very good defense this year, especially if we can pick up an Ike Taylor type in FA to go along with Harris. Solid A draft from me to this point.

Dare I say it - after this draft I'm actually getting excited again. :kubepalm:

Problem is, we were drafting too many project guys before. Guys who had a low ceiling but COULD become something.

You need to check your terminology.

Ceiling is above, means there is a limit to how good they can grow to. Therefore you want a high ceiling in a player.

A floor is below meaning that they can be bad. You want a high floor.

I think you are suggesting in the past we drafted high ceiling, low floor players and too often they ended up on the floor.
