Johnson to miss Pro Bowl (http://blog.houstontexans.com/2011/01/10/johnson-to-miss-pro-bowl/)Posted by Nick Scurfield on January 10, 2011 – 10:57 am
Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will not play in the 2011 Pro Bowl because of an ankle injury, the team has confirmed today.
Johnson was voted to start in the game, his fifth Pro Bowl in eight NFL seasons. He sat out the final two games of the 2010 season because of increased damage to the high-ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 2. He told reporters in late December that he was scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery the week after the season.
Johnson’s decision to skip the Pro Bowl leaves running back Arian Foster and fullback Vonta Leach as the two remaining Texans in the Jan. 30 game. Quarterback Matt Schaub, defensive end Antonio Smith and strong safety Bernard Pollard could still make it in as alternates.
In only 13 games this season, Johnson had 86 catches for 1,216 yards and eight touchdowns.
