I'm getting a feeling that everyone thinks it's a foregone conclusion that Bob will retain Kubes. Just remember tho, John McClain is the source of almost all these runoff. I'd think if it were a foregone conclusion Adam Schefter would be on the story like white on rice. And I'd take schefters sources over the generals all day long. So hold on to hope, fellow Texans fans!

I'm hoping for change I can believe in.

However, with Bum and Dante showing up at practice it just smells of PR spin. Maybe they are floating out trial balloons to see if something sticks?

Barry Warner (who I think is a little more plugged in than John) said on the radio (610) yesterday that THREE different teams had called him while he was at the Rockets game, stating they thought Kubiak would be gone.

He then stated that a "high ranking Texans source" called him and said "Back off this story, he is not leaving"

Once he reported that, McClain backtracked as well.

I tend to believe Warner WAY above McClain .... I also like the way Warner always hits Gary with zingers during the Monday press conferences. I don't think he plays around

We think alike RT @McClain_on_NFL I think Kubiak and GM Rick Smith will return. I think DC Frank Bush, DB coach David Gibbs will be fired.

I think mcclain is schefter's source.

I would still rather read mcclain’s opinions on rib places or steak houses.

Mark Berman of FOX26 reported just about the same.

HOUSTON - As FOX 26 Sports reported Wednesday night there are strong indications Houston Texans (http://boards.houstontexans.com/#) owner Bob McNair will retain head coach Gary Kubiak.

NFL sources also indicate the Texans are expected to go after former Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips to become their new defensive coordinator.

If that holds up one possibility for the Texans secondary coach is University of Houston (http://boards.houstontexans.com/#) defensive coordinator Brian Stewart.

Stewart was the secondary coach in San Diego (2004-2006) when Phillips was the defensive coordinator of the Chargers and Stewart was the defensive coordinator (2007-2008) of the Cowboys during the first three two years Phillips was the head coach in Dallas.

Any decisions McNair reaches will not become public until after the season is over.

I can understand the sentiment about McClain, but, he has been a Houston writer for who knows how long, so as far as Houston specific sports go I give some credit to him and do have to honor what he says to a degree.

It would be different for me if he were commenting on some other team in some other city, but you gotta believe that he has some connections in Houston.

In 1995 he did. Now? Not so much.

If Mark Berman is reporting it, this must be true. He's been the most accurate sports reporter in Houston since I can remember.

I think you're right. A lot of the national guys get their info about Houston from McClain.

But it's not a story. Why would Shefter be talking about it at all?

It only matters to us who follow the Texans. Now if there were any truth to the rumor about Cowher, I could see that being worthy enough for Schefter to invest his time on...... but Kubiak staying??

I don't know why McClain is wasting his time with that "news"

For the record.

If this is the case, I'm just as surprised & disappointed as all of you.

I refuse to believe it. McNair just wouldn't do something like this.

Now back to where I was.
