Sorry if this has been posted in other threads, just curious what people thought about him as the Houston Texans coach next year. It really sounds like he turned down a contract extension because he wanted out of the bengals. A lot of coaches do better in their 2nd head coaching assignment. Even though he has not been to the big one, he has playoff experience. It seems most of our players would fit his system, and IMO there is something to be said for someone who coached last season.

I'd take him as a DC but not as an HC.

You'e supposed to name your thread "Team Marvin Lewis"

Unless you were serious

"Marvin Lewis at HC? A thousand times no!"

At first I wasn't paying this thread any attention.

But then I started thinking. If Kubiak is back next year as HC, it'd be good to have Marvin Lewis looking over his shoulder at Dc.

I was thinking about replacements for Bushy last night. Marvin Lewis was the name that continually came to mind. But would he be willing, or ready for that matter, to step right in as a DC after being a HC for so long?

A few of his accomplishments as a DC:

1996 - Ravens had #30 defense which was last in the league
1997 - Ravens had #25 defense
1998 - Ravens had #22 defense
1999 - Ravens had #2 defense
2000 - Ravens had #2 defense
2001 - Ravens had #2 defense
2002 - Brought the Redskins up from a #10 defense to #5

Ray Lewis started in 96, the Ravens 1st year, so I'm not sure what really caused the huge improvement from 98 to 99. Still looking

* I noticed once Lewis left the Ravens their defense dropped all the way down to 13th under Mike Nolan and didn't get back into the top 5 until Rex Ryan took over.

As a DC, not a HC. I want a proven HC, preferably at the pro level.

I think he'll have to be. I don't think the HC offers are going to be there for him.

It'll take a year or 2 before the Bungal stink airs out.

Yeah, I figured that. I was really refering to whether he'd want a year off or something of that nature. You know, to kinda refuel the tank.

In 2001 I believe they finished ranked #2 because Tenn gave up less yards but the Ravens gave up the less amount of points.
