Did any of you catch it? I thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably the best one yet.

yeah I caught it, thought it was pretty good.. was really great seeing all the old footage and hearing stories of the swc before it's demise.. it also seems like SMU got kinda screwed by the media battle going on in dallas during that time compared to other programs that were doing the same thing like A&M or Houston or any other swc team pretty much...

the 30 for 30s as a whole have been awesome for the younger crowd like myself who weren't alive/don't remember a lot of these stories happening.. I consider myself somewhat of a sports history/trivia buff and so seeing and learning more about all these little stories is pretty interesting to me...

this one ranks up pretty high on my favorites so far, along with once brothers (divac/petrovic), into the wind (terry fox), june 17, 1994 (oj's car chase), best that never was (marcus dupree), and the two escobars (pablo/andres escobar).

My favorites so far were the NBA one on petrovic and Divac, marcus Dupree, and, the U its all about the U!

I don't know why Skip Baylis keeps arguing that student athletes deserve to be paid since schools make millions off of them.

A.) They're student athletes, not pro athletes. Students first, athletes second.

B.) Most players, or at least the highly recruited ones probably get a full ride to a school. If they're going to schools like Texas, Michigan, Miami (FL), etc not only are they getting admitted to a top-tier school with often times blow-average scores, they have the ability to walk out with a quality degree which outweighs the fact that they're not getting paid.

Anyways, Pony Exce$$ was great and the rest of the 30 for 30 docs have been well written and directed.

Wasn't as good as i thought it be but i had pretty high expectations for it; i was really looking forward to seeing it. It was still good though.

My favorite by far is the one on marcus dupree was better.

Others i enjoyed was "Once Brothers" & even though i don't watch nascar or anything, i thought the one on Tim Richmond was damn good.

blow-average scores

I don't know if this was intentional or accidental, but I laughed.

I've had one of those full rides. You still need some pocket money even with a scholarship. Some of those guys are half way across the country and have poor families. I'm not saying a lot, but maybe 100 a week to take a girl out or buy shampoo.

I thought they got paid a small stipend for living expenses.

Pony Exce$$ was great! That was the first 30 for 30 I watched. I heard they were really really good. Long story short, I set the DVR to record any more going forward!

I didn't. I was a guy with a poor family that had meals but couldn't afford anything else. I had to shower at the field house cause I couldn't afford soap or shampoo. 100 a week wouldn't hurt anything.

I didn't think it was that good. It seemed to be as much about nostalgic recollections about the city of Dallas by Dallasites in that citys glory years
as it was about SMU. I thought for examples the ESPN episodes about Ricky Williams & Marcus Dupree were each much better.

Good investment. The box set out now has the first fifteen; not sure when the next one is coming.

I caught the rerun of Pony Excess on Tuesday, and saw that they're going to air Steve Bartman's story (Catching Hell)next year. I'm looking forward to that one; I wish they'd shown it instead of that one about the Red Sox World Series win.

Just love how ESPN whitewashed Craig James. They acted like there was never even a question or that it was even possible he took anything to go to SMU.

Yeah, in regards to Eric Dickerson, he was quick to say "to this day you can't get a word out of him about what he got.."

The whole time he was talking about Eric Dickerson i was thinking "what'd you get you little punk?"

Yep, you can text while driving and crash your car into an Austin apartment complex and get suspended for only one game against a weak opponent (e.g. Sergio Kindle).
