View Full Version : If Schaub had Vick's arm strength...

Watching Vick air it out to Desean Jackson the first play on MNF made me realize just how ridiculous his arm strength is in comparison to the rest of the NFL QBs.

AJ's 60 yarder he had to slow down at around 45-50 yards of air.... Desean Jackson caught it in full stride after about 65 yards of air time. Imagine if AJ didn't have to slow down when we bombed it deep!!!

If Schaub had Vick's arm strenght he wouldn't have been a 3rd round pick to begin with.

If "if" were a fifth, we'd all be drunk.

I used to say back when Vick was still a young QB that I wished he had Chad Pennington's brain.

I think he has now. He has worked really hard at the mental aspects of his game to know be the 'complete' QB.

Vick is leading the NFL by over 10 points in QB rating. He has become the ultimate qb

 Vince Young has led most of the year in that regard. Vick and Young rank 27th and 34th in attempts per game to put things into perspective.

Vick has only played in 6 games so far this season.
In one of those, he came in after the game was well on its way due to Kolb injury. He didn't start

In another he was injured early and missed most of the game.

In games he has played 100% of the snaps, he averages 30.5 attempts per game. He would fall middle of the pack

Phillip Rivers QB rating is much more impressive at 102.9 averaging 37 passes per game. I'm not suggesting Vick isn't having a great season, I'm suggesting that QB ratings can be misleading (again, see the VY reference).

Fair enough. Im mostly just impressed that Vick is posting a 62+% completion percentage and has thrown zero interceptions all year

I'll even admit that all of the things I used to criticize him of earlier in his career, are non-exsitent right now. He's making smart decisions with the ball, his accuracy is money, arm strenght is still well above average. He's also really poised in the pocket as opposed to the days when he would automatically tuck and run.

Stats aside, Vick and the Eagles offense were unstoppable. I'm not a fan of Vick the person, but damn, Vick the player has been impressive. 28 points and 270+ yards in the 1st quarter is just sick.

On a positive note, Houston beat Washington too !!

Vick also doesn't have to throw as much as Manning, Brady, or Rivers to be
effective. Just face it. Vick is the PROTOTYPE QB. He always
has been, but now he's taking it to another level. Other QB's
wish they had a rocket arm AND videogame speed.

In ten years, teams won't be looking for the next Peyton Manning.
They'll be scouting for the next Michael Vick.

Vick had all the physical tools, and none of the mental ones. Until now.

Teams have already been scouting for the next Vick, which is why Young, Tavaris Jackson, etc got drafted so high.

And no, its not a race thing. Beat you to it.

Yes, but Rivers has already played us so his numbers are inflated. :fingergun:
I'm sure Vick's will jump quite a few points after the Thursday nighter. :foottap:

Thank G*D Schaub doesn't have as strong as an arm as Vick....

This means he can barely pick up a dog, let alone slam it to the ground...

Love what vick has done...

but let's not act like he's thrown the ball all over the 2002 bucs.

Jags, Lions and Skins?

Even http://thecensus.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/smug_russell.gif could do that.

Too bad Schaub couldn't throw like that on the Jags last week, huh?

Vick 17/31 - 291
Schaub 22/32 - 314

Two passes to AJ were deflected by the Jets defensive back because Schaub floated it to him, instead of putting mustard on it.

The pass to Walter was short, making Walter slow down an dhave to adjust...instead of being able to keep running under it. Once you have to slow down to adjust to an under-thrown ball, your hand-to-eye coordination is all jacked up. I don't blame Walter. I blame Schaub for always failing to lead the receiver more.

Schaub is good, don't get me wrong, but that's his achilles heel: The underthrown ball. And then there's the soft, floated ball to the sideline(s) that needs more zip on it.

It's good to have nice "touch" on the ball, but some situations require a fastball.
