View Full Version : Positives from today

Don't get me wrong - I think our season is just about shot at this point. But, I do like to pull out positives whenever I can, just so I don't feel as bad about the whole thing. With that said, here are some things that I thought were positives today:

- Arian Foster. I know he didn't get those 4th down runs, but that seems more on the OL, to me (yes, they get some credit for Foster's other runs, but Foster made a lot of that happen on his own).
- I think we were finally getting some pass rush. Rivers managed to get away passes anyway, most of the time, but there was at least pressure on quite a few plays.
- Jacoby Jones is a better kick returner than Slaton - I figure we get 5-10 more yards on each kick return with him, and there is a chance he will break a long one.

Trying to think of others, but I can't. I guess the forced fumble and the interception are positives, but those players (Pollard and Jackson) had negatives that far outweighed the positives.

We lost a game he had to win and should have won. I see no positives. Moral victories are for teams like the Bills.

Foster was dodging linemen in the back field and had a great game. Other than that, **** em. AJ punting at crunch time was awful.

Positive - we didn't come out flat for the 6th time this season.

KJ is playing better every week. The downfield TD throw was on the free safety, not KJ. KJ was playing zone and he moved up to cover his zone and Wilson let the play get past him.

The playcalling was much better this week than last week. As a result we came out a lot better in the first few drives. I still think it's not good enough, but the game plan was way better today, we just didn't execute when we needed to.

- The defense actually forced a 3 & out when we needed it the most.
- Offense moved the ball relatively easy against the best defense in the league (statistically).
- Actually forced some turnovers.

Positive... Another loss means we're closer to firing kubiak and his clown coachng staff. Send Rick smith packing too.

We are still only one game back of the division lead.

Well, I didn't shoot anybody, so that's a positive. I felt like it, but I didn't do it.

I'm not sure if that's a positive or not...

I'm going to wait until we have 7-8 losses to pick up the soap. I hope we don't get there but it looks like we are going that way.

I usually like to try and stay positive, but it's hard to be optimistic when the defense every Sunday make the same mistakes and don't show any signs of improving.

Arian Foster - ran hard, decisive with his cuts, very instinctive good size/speed. looks like he really belongs in the league :wow:

OL - played much better both in pass pro & run blocking. Duane Brown & Eric Winston owned the corners :bluesbro:

Jacoby Jones is a solid if not dynamic kick returner period :firehair:

Matt Schaub shows toughness & reslience under pressure :roast:

I'm positive that we don't have to worry about the playoffs now..

I'm guessing we got 3-5 or 2-6 in the last 8 games..

Positive: We didn't play the Browns, Bills, or Lions this week because we would have lost to those teams as well. Somehow losing to the Chargers still seems more honorable.

Lol, who am I kidding. No positives there.

Ya I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going to wait on the soap until this season is officially shot. Its still too close of a race right now.

I think the next three weeks tell the tale .... they pretty much have to beat the Jaq's , Jets and Tits .... or forget about it.

In addition to other players mentioned, Antonio Smith played with heart again, 110% power on all plays. If only that would rub off on some of the other players.

We're 4-4, we're 1-1 in the division, 4 more division games decide who wins the South. I know it's a longshot, but those are the make-it-or-break-it games of this season. I'm not overly optimistic, but I'm not going to hang up the spurs and call it a day until the season is officially dead, if I did that what reason for watching football, and the Texans, at all?

I think the biggest positive is that we can improve drastically by getting one player off the field--Eugene Wilson. BUT, that's only if our coaches can see it.

AS is our best D-Lineman. Sad, but true.

Foster = MAN

James Casey looked like the old OD.

Schaub had a pretty good game too I think.

Defensive positives....uh....uh.....

Kareem Jackson showed the ability to not drop INT's that fall as gifts from the sky.

uh...positives....uh......

Eugene Wilson positively sucked!

I don't think we have that long.

We need to win next week against the Jags otherwise the team will go into "Meltdown Mode" and start playing like the Cowboys.

Glenn: It's not always bad to be in last place. Here's some things we can focus on: One, we tried hard. And two, we're still dear friends!

Well, the single biggest positive of the game (and the season in my opinion) was Arian Foster. He's the real thing and we signed him off the street. That's like the gift that keeps on giving. We'll need to pay the man if he does this all year and next year.

The team came out and at least acted like they were interested in winning. As someone already pointed out they didn't come out "flat". They just didnt' come out particularly sharp, and in the defenses case I'm not sure they came out at all.

James Casey did look like Owen Daniels at times. I'm getting a little tired of Dreeson dropping passes. Maybe Casey is ready to move ahead of Dreeson on the depth chart soon?

We were in this game all the way to the end. Not bad for a 'mediocre' team that just played the NFL's #1 ranked offense and #2 ranked defense. A couple of plays go against us and we lose this one, but we had a shot at winning it, despite being outcoached. Foster TD that gets overturned. Not taking a FG to start the 4th QTR when we're up by 2 pts. Going for it on a rush play on 4th and 1 and not getting it. AJ 'knee kicking' the ball instead of catching it. Jacoby Jones not catching the deflected TD pass that was right in his hands. This team had several opportunities to win this one, in spite of Kubiaks poor coaching decisions.

We lost this game due to bad coaching, mostly in the 4th QTR. The team put up a good game and had a chance to win it. I walked into that stadium expecting to get our butts handed to us in a basket. We didn't. We lost, but it was a due to poor coaching decisions, not poor play overall.

Says to me the Texans can play anyone on any given Sunday and win in the NFL.

Good point but I thought that was going to happen the way that Kubiak was pumping up Troy Nolan in the preseason.:goodpost:
