The Texans did waive offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam and linebacker David Nixon. Salaam clears room on the roster for Duane Brown, who has returned from his four-game suspension for violating the NFLís policy on banned substances.

Nixon, who had six tackles in Sunday's 35-31 victory over Kansas City, leaves a spot open to sign another player from the practice squad or off the street.

I wonder who we're looking at. Pretty interesting move considering how decent Nixon looked this past week.

Yeah, and in related news, I hear the Astros are interested in Mike Schmidt.

But see man, Merriman would be of interest to us for the same reason he would be of interest to any other team, his skill as an edge rusher.
And that means in our scheme he plays with his hand down as a DE, not
standing upright as a LB.

How does that help the push up the middle ? MW and AS have played pretty damn well but its hard to get to the QB when he steps up or throws the damn ball in .25 seconds.

Again Aaron Schobel is OUT OF SHAPE, which came right from Kubiak during his show on 610AM. If he was in shape which Schobel says is very hard for him to keep his playing weight we might have made an offer.

Nixon was a surprise noting the way we need LBs right now. But what we really need to do is put out an S.O.S. an experienced Mike if one is out there.

I'm surprised with the Nixon cut. I thought he was a serviceable LB, especially since we have depth issues at LB. I imagine we're looking to bring someone in, otherwise why cut him.

Did Salaam see any playing time?

Maybe they already made a trade for Asomugha, but the details haven't come out....

Even if they wanted him, he will still have to go through waivers, so it is unlikely that the Texans would get him even if they put a claim in.

You stop that. Stop that right now! Agreed....I'd feel like a kid on Christmas.

REALLY, REALLY surprised at the Nixon move. I'm guessing Kubes got word that at least one of our injured LBs corps (Sharpton, Adibi, Bentley) will be ready for the Colts.

I am thinking Greenhouse gets called back. Special teams wrecking ball.

I believe he said that all three are expected back for Indy.

I heard they're working on it right now. Slaton, Orlovsky, and a 6th rounder for Asomugha and Michael Huff. :stirpot:

We're probably going to re-sign Jamie Sharper.

We're probably going to re-sign Jamie Sharper.

I was hoping they were going to lure the Frig out of retirement to get more push up the middle.

One spot is for Duane Brown since he is now cleared to return after suspension?

In order.

They were all back on the shelf for Indy, Wash, Dallas, Oak, NY and KC.

They'll be back for Indy.

Well, that's good, because I haven't seen Salaam do anything good all year. :)

Hmmm, I wonder if Green Bay is still wanting to trade Hawk? He did much better in a 4-3 than a 3-4.

I don't get the Nixon cut. He had a decent-ish game Sunday. If it is because he blew some coverages, then we wouldn't have a whole lot of guys on that side of the ball.
