was it me or did the texans d-line get their butts handed to them, zero push in the middle and the ends ran them selves out of plays

More missed tackles on that one drive than the entire ARZ game.

They used our over aggressiveness against us. We'd over pursue and they'd run into the empty space. We need to hold our defensive lanes.

from what i saw, no fire in the defense like last week, d-line were catching blocks and way too many missed tackles

What you saw was the difference between playing a bad team and a great team. Whats looks like fire against one team looks like your overmatched against a great team.

i could not disagree more, has nothing to do with either playing a great or bad team, they are professional players and if anything would be more up for a game against the defending super bowl champions. this has everything to do with desire and coming out with a fire under their butt. they look as if they are not ready to play and it shows in their body language and on the score board

They were playing hard. The stuff that worked last week just didnt this week. They got punched back and they folded.

Defense looked almost too aggressive, they took themselves out of a lot of plays and out of position

what you saw was the defending champs playing in front of their (very vocal) home crowd for the first time since winning the Super Bowl playing against a bunch of youngsters who didn't realize they'd be running into a buzzsaw.

Even when Kubiak made the ones stay out for the whole first half - instead of just the first qtr - they didn't wake up.

Maybe the next time they come out flat, he should SIT the ones and let the twos play

The ends did that quite a bit .... but the missed tackles were the biggest difference(outside of turning the ball over). They just didnt play well fundamentally.

Kubes didn't have his team ready to match the intensity of the defending SB champs? There's a shocker. Oh wait, isn't this the same crap we saw last yr? The Texans not ready to play a full game? What you say?

If Kubes doesn't do a better job of getting his team ready to play against the Colts you can expect another Jets fiasco.

Didn't look like the "ones" really appreciated being on the field that long for the 2nd preseason game.

From the reports I saw, the Texans competed well with the Saints this week on the practice field. Maybe they were too amped up, and left their intensity there? Who knows? I just can't get too worked up over a poor showing in New Orleans, or a good one in Arizona. What matters is September 12th at Reliant. I'll be there to see what happens when it counts.

I'm already preparing for the week 1 post game quote from Kubes to contain the phrase "and that starts with me"

This resembled alot of the defense i saw before week 4 when Kubiak started evaluating things. Minus the insanely long TD runs every other play. Piss poor tackling and overpursuit.

It looked to me to be a piss poor game plan! Of course I was there live so I didn't really get to see the action. :D

It seemed like we were ready for the Saints to throw the ball all over the place, but Brees only had 36 yds his whole time in game.

I guess they need more bowling nights.:chef:

I don't think there are much game planning and scheming for pre-season games. They play pretty much a vanilla defense. I'm pretty sure there was no scouting, then devising a plan on how to stop them.

Still... no excuse for the Texans. The Saints OL just controlled the game. Not sure if the Saints have the best OL in the league, or the Texans looked that bad?

I have also never seen so many screens and draws work so well. That tells me the DL & LBs didn't sniff out these plays well and fell for them every time.

It also looked like the secondary played alot of zone coverage, and the Saints did a great job of finding all of the holes.

Actually your Saints fans were pretty vocal. The Dome was rockin' (unfortunatlY for the Texans fans that made it to NOLA! OTOH, we didn't have too much to be vocal about... Except pleading with NOLA fans to take Holliday off our hands. :gun:

*****************************

Funniest quote of the night....Well it was funny to me, anyway .

Saints fan: There's way too many Texan fans in New Orleans.

Texan fan rebuttal: There is way too many New Orleans people in Houston. Take them back!
