Seems like the Texans like McCourtey over Wilson according to this writer.

The Houston Texans will not take Texas safety Earl Thomas with the 20th pick, if he is still on the board. They like him, but they feel like they have bigger needs at running back and cornerback. They expect Clemson running back C.J. Spiller to be gone by the time they draft. But if Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews still is available, mark him in your mock draft. That's the safest pick you'll make after the first four choices. Steve Slaton was a 1,200-yard rusher as a rookie, but he had a neck injury last year. Gary Kubiak told me he thought Slaton's decline last season in his second year had a lot to do with the neck. Dr. Andrew Dossett, one of the Cowboys' team physicians, did the surgery on Slaton after the Texans put him on injured reserve. While the Texans are confident Slaton will be as good as new, there has to be some uncertainty there. It is a neck injury, after all. They also have to ask themselves how much did the neck injury contribute to the seven fumbles that Slaton had. There is no doubt the Texans have to run the ball better if they are going to get to the playoffs. They ranked fourth in total offense, first in passing, but only 30th in rushing. Their lack of a running game on the goal line cost them two games, and a playoff berth. So Mathews if the pick if he's there. If he's not, they love Rutgers cornerback Devin McCourty. They like McCourty more than Boise State's Kyle Wilson. McCourty will be there if Mathews isn't, and the Texans would have their replacement for Dunta Robinson. - Charean Williams, Fort Worth Star Telegram

I'd almost rather see Earl Thomas get picked earlier in the draft then have to watch us pass over him if he's available..

This guy has an opinion just like you or me, and that's all it is. I have been hearing Mathews a lot, but this time last year we were hearing another Matthews a lot.

Texans put out a smoke screeen like everyone else. They are likely to totally surprise everyone.

That said, I am hoping for Thomas/Tate in the first 2 rounds

Dang, I've read everywhere Wilson had impressed everyone. I wouldn't be pleased if we selected McCourty.

And yes, I wanted DeAngello Hall over Dunta Robinson back in 2004.

FWIW Paul Kuharsky also says that he thinks that we'd pick McCourtey over Wilson.

I actually wouldn't mind that; after recently seeing his bowl game highlight video; in which he got burned, stiff armed, and had whiff tackles so much that even I started to get embarrassed for the guy. I seen other highlights of him and came to the conclusion: Antonio Cromartie, a guy who will get his numbers of ints but will other than that will mainly be burnt toast on the field. We already had one of those kind before, *cough* P-Burnt.

I actually wouldn't mind Ryan Matthews (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF7rbevTpsM), the guy is such a sick player. Fast, quick, athletic, and can slip through traffic and get into open running lane as well as out running even the opposing team's fastest player(Kyle Wilson), as seen in the video.

BTW, doesn't the highlight vid remind you guys of the Shonn Green vs. Cromartie & Chargers playoffs game facebook parody?
