You got us beating Indy right off the bat, and then 5 more after that. We're going to be 6-0 by the bye week? :barman:

Yeah the 6-0 start seemed awfully weird to me, but aside from the Colts game we should be able to handle all the other games. I just gave the Colts one to us, as well. I see us starting well and ending well, with some tough road games in the middle.

Concerning the loss in Oakland, I think they might catch you guys by surprise. This is taking into consideration that Gradkowski is the starter. Also, the Raiders don't have the most difficult schedule out there, and I imagine they will be on a 2 game winning streak when the Texans come to Oakland. Of course if Jamarcus is still the QB, no need to worry. I've also been hearing that Davis is very high on Clausen, so you guys might be facing him when you come to the Bay.

Honestly, I had a hard time picking on those two Titans games. So I ended up flipping a coin :D.

Here is the Raiders schedule, feel free to take a swing at how much the Raiders will blow this season.

Raiders @ Titans L
Rams @ Oak W

Texans @ Oak W
Chargers @ Oak W

Raiders @ Broncos L
Seahawks @ Oak L
Chiefs @ Oak W

Raiders @ Steelers L

Raiders @ Chargers L
Raiders @ Jags L

Colts @ Raiders L
Raiders @ Chiefs W

Hoping for 7-9 :jam:, but I can see Texans and Chargers winning their games, so I'm expecting 5-11.

That's 19.1 points per game on defense, which would have landed us right in the #5-10 range last year. We better be drafting some combination of CB/DT/S in the 1st and at least 2 more in the 2nd-4th to be able to pull that off.

(I'd love it if we did this)

I think we start off strong and lose a few in the middle of the season then 2 more at the end of the season. We're a second half of the season team so its really important we get off to a go start.

gtexan02
04-21-2010, 11:42 AM
9/12 – Indy @ Home- L
We always start out slow, PLUS we'll have a rookie CB going up against Peyton Manning. This sounds like a guaranteed problem.

9/19 – @ Washington 3pm W
I think we catch a break getting Washington so early in the season. They'll still be transitioning.

9/26 – Dallas @ Home Noon on Fox W
Could go either way, really. Dallas is a good team, but we'll match up well since we will have played them in the preseason week 3.

10/3 - @ Oakland 3pm W
We play them very poorly almost every time, but we usually still win. No reason to see the trend stop.

10/10 – NY Giants @ Home Noon W
This team finished last season 3-8. They start fast. It could go either way, but since its at home, I think we'll win.

10/17 – Chiefs @ Home Noon W
This team improved last year, but they are still coming off a 4-12 season.

10/24 – Bye

11/1 - @ Indy MNF 7pm L
Going into Indy is almost a guaranteed loss. However its coming off a bye week AND a monday night game, so we should be extra prepared. Could go either way.

11/7 – San Diego @ Home Noon L
San Diego always finishes strong. They also run the type of D that gives us problems, and have a good passing attack.

11/14 - @ Jax Noon L
We always have competitive games with Jacksonville. Smart money is on us splitting, so I'll give them the home tarp advantage.

11/21 - @ jets Noon L
The Jets are just too improved in my opinion. Unless Sanchez takes a major step bck, I see them being one of the premier teams in the AFC this season.

11/28 – Tennessee @ home Noon W
I think we'll split with Tennessee again. Maybe CJ will be tired by this point in the season and we'll have learned how not to give up 300 yarders.

12/2 - @ Philly – Thursday nite 7pm W
I dont think Philly is going to be that good this year. Maybe Im wrong, but I see us winning.

12/13 – Baltimore @ Home MNF 7pm L
Baltimore has always given us fits. At least we're home for this one. And its a MNF game..

12/19 – @ Tennessee noon L
Split with Ten

12/26 - @ Denver Noon W
I think Denver is going to be bad this season

1 / 2 – Jaxsonville @ Home Noon W
Split with Jax

9-7 seems to be realistic. Could go as high as 11-5, or as low as 6-10

The stench of fear needs to be lifted ASAP. We finished second in the South last year and earned this schedule. Expectations are high due to results and talent, and thankfully we have the schedule to show folks we are in the playoff conversation as long as we take care of business.

The locker room and the staff. I am interested to see who are the leaders of the team in 2010 - a kids to men metamorphosis of sorts.

Only problem I have with this statement is yes we finished second, by virtue of our overall record, not our pathetic 1-5 division record.

Some people call it fear others might call it keeping expectations realistic.

Is anyone else having a hard time calling the Washington game? I just have a bad feeling about it. On paper it should be an easy W, but Kyle helped design the offensive gameplans before and they're going to be greatly improved at QB. They also run a 3-4.

Realistically, every one of those games was a one score game. And CB at least and likely KB won't be returning for encore performances.

I wouldn't have called it an easy W but I wouldn't worry about the familiarity of the coaches with each other. Last time Shanahan and Kubiak met the Texans walked away with a 31-13 win.

Boy! I'm DOWN on the Texans today! Wow! I guess seeing that schedule gutted me deeper than I expected. I have another season ticket payment to make. It's due in two days.

Oof, this is like the schedule from hell. I mean, it looks like the NFL even tried to "lighten" it up as much as they could (giving us a late bye week, giving us a MNF game right after a Thursday Night Primetime game effectively giving us almost 2 bye weeks), but damn...there is just no break here.

I can't drink the kool-aid. Hopefully, that will spark us to a RALLY year, but uh...:kitten:

9-7. My internal optimist probably skewed one of those games to a win a swell, so discount by that and you get 8-8.

Either way I think we still miss the playoffs....again...

Here's hoping I'm wrong!:barman:

Remember that the teams that were good last year won't necessarily be good next year. It's bad history to judge the upcoming schedule based on last years records.

I think Denver and Philly both have losing seasons. I think NYG continues to slide for at least this season. I'd say the Colts will probably slide to an 11-12 win season.

I dunno. It's impossible to predict. I think the schedule will look a lot more reasonable once the season starts and powerhouse clubs start losing games.

Prior to the draft, my opinion is that this will be the year that lots of Texans fans lose any good will they had toward the Kubiak era.

I have BAD feelings about this year for us. This Texans team has picked itself up off the mat many, many times. It has fought and clawed when the chips have been down.

And I just have a feeling that all it's going to take to have this team's psyche destroyed is a few losses early on, and then they will say "To Hell with this," and they won't play for Kubiak. Other opponents will take advantage and will thump us, McNair will stare a hole into his TV monitor, and he won't fire Kubiak until off-season in 2011.

The more time I have spent staring at this schedule, the more I dislike not having Seattle, San Francisco, Buffalo, and St. Louis on there. Face it, folks: 2009 was a gift that got away.

Chiefs and Raiders are the only two cream puffs on the schedule this year.

I worry about this team's ability to out-maneuver and decisively beat teams when anything substantial is on the line.

Here's to hoping that a very very GOOD draft by Smithiak somehow provides the same sort of boost that Brian Cushing gave us last year. I think we need to finish up our defense and make it a lock-down, stout, unforgiving and ever-punishing defense that allows our offense to score its 21 or 24 points-per-game and essentially freeze out the other team's offense.

Look, I got NO problem making an allowance for two losses vs. Indy. They are an obstacle that will some day erode after years and years of being chipped away at by Father Time. I just have to see this team castrate and curb-stomp Jax and Tenn, as well as other teams on our schedule that are on our level of competitiveness.

I just think this is an uphill battle that's either ending VERY well, or VERY badly. And I'm leaning toward very badly due to past experiences.

Now that I see some of the responses, I wish i would have added a follow up question to the original post:

If your prediction is accurate, would you be satisfied with the team's performance?

I assume those predicting 11-12 wins would be, and those (or the one) predicting 4 wins wouldn't be.

There are a lot of people saying 8-9 wins, some say 10 wins with no playoffs. If one of these was your prediction, would you be happy if the Texans stayed the course one more year?

I'm just hoping the football "gawds" will hate me enough to prove me wrong!! One thing I am certain of, they don't like me one damn bit!!

And NO I would not be happy with an 8-8 record, nor would I be happy with a 9-7 record. I will be happy ONLY if we make the playoffs! But, I'm somewhat of a realist, and we have a butt kickin hardass schedule. We're weak in a couple of major areas, RB, CB, OL, and don't forget, 3 of our TEs are coming off injuries that required surgery. The first of the season is gonna be tough. I am still ticked we have to play the "girls" in week 3. Not enough time to get the kinks worked out of the guys who have been injured. JMO!! BUT, I guess that's what preseason is for. It's their job to be ready on opening day, and I can only pray that they take the Colts down on day one, and Kubes dosen't pull one of his "friends first" on game two, and the FANS are the 12th man against the "girls" in game three. Sept is always a B____!!!!!
