With the 58th pick, the Cardinals select...

Vladimir Ducasse, OT

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0121/ncf_i_ducasse13_300.jpg

OTs are going fast and the Cardinals could use one to protect whoever is under center. Ducasse has upside but in case OT doesn't work out he can slide inside and play guard.

I still think it is a little high for Ducasse. He is really a guard, I dont know why teams are trying to fit him in as a tackle.

Still, decent enough pick.

This is right about the spot where I have him rated. There are still some value picks out there right now though, so maybe I would have snatched one of those guys.

IMO, agents always want their guards to be left tackles, so that may be the origination of the idea.

its a pick based on projection, the measureables are there to be a franchise LT, he is just raw talent right now. reminds me of a poor mans Marcus McNeill also selected mid 2nd but slipped for another reason (back concerns).

Let the grumbles begin.

The Houston Texans Select:

Morgan Burnett
Free Safety
Georgia Tech
6'1" 209 lbs

http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-tech-sports/files/2010/01/MorganBurnett.jpg

Super Productive Career. 235 Tackles, 13 PBU, 14 INT's.

Had big games against quality opponents.

Ball-Hawk safety with 14 carrer INT's.

Natural play maker with great size.

No character concerns. Just a solid all around football player.

Here is a good write-up on Burnett. LINK (http://www.giantsgab.com/2010/03/17/prospect-profiles-safety-morgan-burnett-ga-tech/)

Highlight Video. LINK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQf7WNWk7aQ&feature=related)

This is a perfect situation for Burnett who can come in and compete with Eugene Wilson for the starting FS spot. The more I researched this guy, the more I fell in love with the idea of drafting him. He is a solid round 2 prospect who should not be available when we pick in the 3rd. I love the size of this kid. Big enough to play SS if we needed him to.

So lets hear it.

I think you nailed it :logo:

Well time is up on Texan4ever and the Seahawks.

As laid out in the rules of the draft the teams following the Seahawks can pick now.

However to uphold the integrity of the draft process perhaps we should consensus pick the Seahawks.... what says the draft members?

I have Pencil Necks pick and will make it in a little bit regardless of whether a consensus has been reached.

Perhaps for the Seahawks...

Jonathon Dwyer, RB, Lamarr Houston, DT or Dexter McCluster, WR

They took Earl Thomas and I'm not sure FA's .

OK ... checking team needs .... OT , OG , CB , RB , WR , DE .

So far they drafted Trent Williams OT, Earl Thomas FS.

In FA they really have signed no one I would stop drafting a player for.

One site I visited had their needs as: OT, WR, HB, DL, CB

The trades they have made brought DEs back to them so maybe scratch that for the moment unless the BPA is definitely a DE.

Leaving the Seahawks pick aside till consensus is reached, or Texan4ever gets on.... the Jets will pick via PM.

With the 61st pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Jets pick Corey Wootton, DE, Northwestern.

Ok ... the Vikings pick Ben Tate .

Brett Favre has informed Brad Childress that he's only got 4 maybe 5 retirements left so they better win now . That plus losing Chester Taylor and striking out on LT gives them nobody behind a declining , fumbling AD .

But if healthy Wooten is a perfect fit for the Jets 3-4 defense. Wooten can be a real difference maker.

But if healthy Wooten is a perfect fit for the Jets 3-4 defense. Wooten can be a real difference maker.

That was my logic. The Jets need to improve their edge rush and Ryan would be able to use Wooten as a dangerous weapon. I think their board is going to be set up a little differently and Asamoah isn't going to be ranked as high on their board.

But that's just my opinion.

I'm really surprised he fell this far. I'm thinking maybe he was forgotten about? Anyways, with average Moala and TTaylor cut from last years draft, the Colts are hoping he's the guy to disrupt a potent division rival Houston Texan passing attack. A steal IMO.

How was that exciting Stros game?

Uncle Drayon needs to sell the team. If he's not going to invest in the farm system. The farm system alows trades and you can get players for 4-5 years on the cheap if you're willing to invest in it.

Eric Norwood, OLB

http://media.thestate.com/smedia/2008/10/04/21/623-3354.standalone.prod_affiliate.74.JPG

The Saints lost Scott Fujita to FA (I think) so they go defense again and select the linebacker from South Carolina. He is a bit shorter then you prefer in a linebacker but has good pass-rush skills (similar to James Harrison). He should be able to excell at the next level and contribute ASAP.

I've been stealing him in other mock drafts as well, he's a great player who will slip due to his height. If he was a bit taller he would be gone in the early part of the 2nd round, he's that good.

Saint Louis Rams picking 65th select -
Jonathan Dwyer, RB Georgia Techhttp://img.fannation.com/upload/si_blog_post_images/jonathan-dwyer-sweep.jpg

Big tussel in the Rams war room on this one, in the end it was deceided Steven Jacksons beaten body (herniated disk) lack of depth @ position & new Center/QB combo needed another warhorse to compete in the backfield. St. Louis is the one team where his triple spread option experience fits in with what Jackson has been doing, as his understudy similar frame 6-0 235 downhill runner with some shake & good ball skills receiving. compares to Jonathan Stewart selected #13th overall in 2008.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers picking #67 select - Dexter McCluster, WR/RB Ole Miss
http://media.commercialappeal.com/mca/content/img/photos/2008/08/30/s31tig5.jpeg

Head Coach insisted if Dexter fell to the Bucs laps in the 3rd round they take him. His versatility to impact the offense as a RB, WR, Punt & Kickoff duties is like three picks in one. He has explosive cutting ability, excellent acceleration is quicker than fast & plucks the ball out of the air with soft hands giving Bucs added playmaker dimension.

Just asking , what were your thoughts for picking Colt ?

Under the radar KC found an offense late in the season last year with Charles coming off the bench and adding Chambers to the roster. They have been busy in the off season adding OG Lilja, C Wiegmann, RB Thomas Jones and doubt they are done once the draft finishes and more players are released. I would remiss to not state that Weis may have been the biggest off season move for the offense.

In the this draft I addressed the softness in the middle of the defense with a S, ILB and NT. It came down to McCoy and Beadles at this pick with WR being eyed in the 4th. McCoy is a value pick here, and Weis will have the luxury to mold him into their QB for the future as I am short on both Cassel and Croyle.

I think he'll have to tone the rah rah stuff down and lead by example . I have no doubts about his intangibles and believe he can take a year or to under Holgrem and refine his mechanics . I think he brings everything to the QB position except the refined throwing mechanics and a 3rd round pick is a good gamble IMO .

I also think that Cleveland should be a team that's 4 yards and a cloud of dust or mud . They play in pretty bad conditions and to me Tebow is as mentally tough as anyone . I think the thing that will help him in the cold is he has 10 1/8 hands , Favre has 10 5/8 hands , Clausen has 9 inch hands , Alex Smith has 8 3/4 .

Sorry about that. I just had to have a decent edge rusher to help the transition to 3-4. Dan Williams and Koa Misi = a decent shot in the arm to that Bills defense.

It was a good pick there, I would be really surprised if he lasts this long in the real draft.

We should think about changing that.

If you know that you're within 10 picks it seems as though you might want to check in once in the morning and once at night. or PM somebody with a list of your picks.

Not directed at anybody, just saying.

I agree , a draft needs some flow to it or folks will lose interest . What keeps me going ... the Browns have three 3rd round picks .

I know , I was meaning to post this when I picked him . I also thought that this would be a nice shot in the arm for Cleveland for getting a two time national champ and Heisman winner . It would be like HWNSNBS , a guy that looks good on a billboard but has a better chance of success .

I like guys early who have won for many years . You ever hear of Bill Parcell's formula for drafting a QB ?

1.He must be a senior, because you need time and maturity to develop into a good professional quarterback.
2.He must be a graduate, because you want someone who takes his responsibilities seriously.
3.He must be a three-year starter, because you need to make sure his success wasn’t ephemeral and that he has lived as “the guy” for some period of time.
4.He must have at least 23 wins, because the big passing numbers must come in the context of winning games.

selecting #74 the Jacksonville Jaguars pick is - Perrish Cox, CB Oklahoma State
http://images.morris.com/images/lubbock/mdControlled/cms/2009/11/17/518017388.jpg

Del Rio needs to address secondary in pass happy AFC South & Perrish Cox is physical in run support & press coverage with excellent ball skills with flashes of playmaking instincts off turnovers & return game (rated #6 CB on Jags draft board). Quick to read & react, very physical with nice size 5'11 1/4" 195 Jag's have history of brushing maturity issues aside & will instead focus on Cox unique athletic playmaking abilities. Perish joins Derek Perrish (not-related) who the Jag's traded up for (reason why Jaq's do not have a 2nd rd. pick this year) to grab the other Cox #73 (almost identical draft slots) out of William & Mary who justified the move with four interceptions & 72 tackles as a rookie.

The current Giant centre is pretty old and they can use all the new talent on the line they can get.

Not looking great for the Texans at this point.

Spievey might not drop to us and we should be looking at CB at this spot. So, Spievey or A.J Jefferson, Donovan Warren, or Javier Arenas?

Or we say screw CB and go Geno Atkins, D'Anthony Smith or interior OL with Mitch Petrus, Jeff Byers or J.D.Walton?

Interesting decision.

Yes.

But it all depends on perspective. Normally a guy like this goes to a 3-4 and they use him as a rush linebacker. But this situation is different being that we're talking about a 4-3. Worilds will be looked at initially as a situational pass rusher but he could either develop into a WILL (if he can learn to cover) or if he can add some weight, could develop into an undersized DE.

Not sure 4th round players can contribute from day one.... I guess that depends on the player but the longer we leave it the larger the chance that we are playing with what we had last year and that wasn't so hot on the OL especially.

I had to take into consideration that on the OL last year we were decimated with injuries. This year we have one, possibly 2 starting guards from last year coming back. We signed FA Wade Smith to compete and also our 3rd rounder from last year (Caldwell) is going to compete for a guard spot. I dont see that much difference in a guard or dlinemen from the 3rd round to the 4th.

The Santonio Holmes trade had it happened last week would've changed the Steelers draft board. With that said the Steelers are a Team that stays true to its draft board.

With the 82nd pick in the NFL mock draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Alex Carrington DE Arkansas St.

With Travis Kirschke's impending retirement finding a DE is a must. Carrinton is a stud who really impressed me at the Sr.Bowl. Had he gone to Arkansas instead of Arkansas St. he probably would've been a late 1st rd. choice.

I guess we can pray this happens then. This was part of my reasoning for drafting Burnett in round 2. And with such a deep draft a corner, there were still 5 corners on the board that I would have considered drafting in the 3rd. And when it turned out to be Speivey I was happier than a pig in mud.

George Selvie had an up and down career but has a ton of upside and can develop into a 3-4 OLB.

With the 91st pick the Dallas Cowboys take Riley Cooper, WR, Florida

http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/07Ac6Gw1m4ei4/340x.jpg

I was targeting WR here. I considered Ford, Shipley & Briscoe. I am not a fan of Gator WRs historically, but Cooper does not fit the profile of past Gator products in my opinion. Moreover, he is arguably the best WR blocker, can and will play special teams, been part of championship football and is a two sport athlete at a high level. Lastly, he should create some buzz for Jerry given his Oklahoma roots and that he was drafted by the Rangers.

St. Louis Rams waste no time selecting 6062 264 TE Rob Gronkowski, Arizona with #99 selection -
http://images.athlonsports.com/d/16381-1/RobGronkowski.jpg
After receiving a clean bill of health by the Rams (Gronkowski underwent a microdisectomy, that's where doctors shave off the disc that sticks out into spinal cord). Rob was clearly BPA this late in the draft for a roster not excatly loaded @ TE, Daniel Fells returning as starter, back-ups Billy Bajema & Darcy Johnson. Big Red Zone target for Bradford who used Jermaine Greshham (also did not play last year) in similar capacity @ Oklahoma. Gives perimeter support off edge in pass pro & excellent run blocking for Dwyer/Jackson. If he can stay healthy this is quite possibly the steal of the draft.

I really don't know who I want for the Texans in the 1st. I'm having such a hard time with it. Particularly if the draft folded like this Mock, I'd REALLY want the Texans to trade down in the 1st and pick up an extra 3rd rounder. I like too many of the 2nd/3rd round prospects.

Dexter McCluster, Mike Johnson, Ben Tate, Montario Hardesty, Toby Gerhart, Jonathan Dwyer, Zane Beadles, Marshall Newhouse. Then we have the DT and CBs to add into the mix - whoever fits what the Texans want to do. I wouldn't be sad if we COMPLETELY traded out of the 1st round this year if we got good value.

What's puzzling to me is that this is exactly what New England did last year in what was considered to be not that deep of a draft. Then you have a team like Philly stockpiling picks in this years draft because of all the talent. I have been overly pleased with my Philly mocks too.

I cant see us passing on Kyle Wilson with #20 if he is there. Taking a RB is not ideal for the Texans, and if the draft fell like this I would rather trade down too.

Hypothetical. Simply trading down 8 spots with San Diego could net us their 3rd and 4th round picks giving us a possible draft like this.

1 Devin McCourty CB, Rutgers
2 Morgan Burnett, S, Georgia Tech
3 Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee

http://www.huskerextra.com/content/articles/2009/09/27/football/doc4abef4d35bd60941898638.jpg

Jacksonville needs to upgrade safety position despite spending 1st rd. pick in 07 on Reggie Nelson. If Clasuen is off the board #10 the Jaguars would take a hard look towards Earl Thomas to upgrade need. To find a safety in the 4th who can come in and upgrade secondary in Larry Asante is great value for them. He is competitive, confident, solid technique wrap up tackler w/big hit mentality. Complete football player (always solid in game film) gets unfairly knocked for measureable speed (4.66-4.68) good size 6' 3/8" 211 & vertical 37" immediate fill FS or SS

There are a lot of questions about Byers. He's had some health issues over the years. He can play both guard spots as well as center. He's rated as high as a 4th rounder (Walter Football and CBS Sports) and as low as a FA (NFL Draft Scout). He's rated as high as a 4th rounder (Walter Football and CBS Sports) and as low as a FA (NFL Draft Scout). He's a talented kid and I had him at 111th on my board and the highest rated interior linemen.

Felt like a good fit to me.

Thanks for the clarification. Versatility is gold so I can see the appeal.

The Giants really were set to draft a player they really like here (who won't be named in hope they are forgotten by the other teams and he slides to the 5th round) when they realised that while there was still value at that position, but Safety was getting a bit thin. So they snapped up......

Glad I got in before you picked from my PM, If I recall correctly Lewis was my 6th choice or so.

With the 116th pick in theNFL draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Robert Johnson Utah.

I started to pick a WR but with Randel El rejoining the Steelers and hopefully Sweed becomes the player he was drafted to be I decided to go in another direction.

We saw how bad the Steeler secondary needed playmakers when TP got hurt last year. Adding AOA and Johnson helps solve that issue. Johnson was also the highest ratedplayer on my board. He's a playmaker.

I would guess you are looking at the interior of the line

I doubt we finish round 5 at this pace... We are picking as slow as the last mock. And the entire point of this mock was to have less users picking for more teams to speed things up.

What does everyone think? Try for round 5?

I'm keen for another round. We need more people committed to PMing their picks.

Let's go 5 ... in a week it will be over anyway .

We talked about the McCluster pick being a luxury pick , well there's two guys on the board who I'd consider the same but I would pick them in the 4th round . One's Dorin Dickerson , who I'd pick for the Texans . An undersized TE/HB who runs a 4.4 , he's like that guy on the Jets from Purdue , who I think was picked in the 2nd .

For the Texans, I might go OL or DT. DT may offer better value with the players available. Need a penetrator not a run stuffer.

I don't have a preference. I've been picking for 3 teams that have a combined 15 picks in the first 4 rounds.... so I'm spent. LOL

Alright, back from class. The Falcons select Florida State OLB Dekoda Watson.

I have been looking to fill OLB for some time now, this seemed like a good spot for it.
