Continuing our draft watch series, let's take a look at senior cornerback Kyle Wilson from Boise State.

The Texans primary needs entering the 2010 draft are at running back, free safety, interior offensive lineman, defensive tackle and cornerback assuming Dunta Robinson leaves in free agency.

Wilson is shooting up the charts thanks to a great week at Mobile.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock and Corey Chavous were touting Wilson during practice last week, noting his quickness in and out of breaks and physical play. Wilson is also an excellent punt returner.

Rob Rang and Chad Reuter from cbssports.com had this to say about Wilson while at Mobile:

"Reuter characterized Boise State's Kyle Wilson as being the star at the position Monday (Jan 25) and the former Bronco only helped himself further with another strong performance. Blessed with great foot quickness, balance and the acceleration to catch up when beaten on a double-move, Wilson is gaining momentum here to be considered the best cover corner of this senior class and a potential first-round pick. However, if he hopes to achieve that status, he'll need to prove more willing to come up in run support than he has been throughout much of his career in the WAC." - Rob Rang, January 27, 2010

Watch Wilson closely at the scouting combine in late February. He could end up being one of the top two or three corners in the draft and given the current momentum, could end up with a third quartile first round grade (17-23rd overall). Or not.

He's a Bronco. Of course we're going to go after him.

I think Wilson will have a very good combine, he's very quick and fast, and will solidify himself in the 1st round. All of this is a good thing since Joe Haden will be gone by the time we pick and CB is a major need for us. Hopefully he's our pick in the 1st round.

Lol.

I like this guy a lot though. I definitely would not be disappointed if we picked him in the first.

I would be very happy to see us take Wilson. This secondary needs a boost even if we get Dunta back. I have started to lean towards Wilson as being my most coveted player for our 1st pick.

Boise State CB Kyle Wilson will not run at the Combine after tweaking his hamstring in pre-draft preparation last week.
SI's Tony Pauline calls the development a potential "slight setback" for Wilson, who is vying to be the second cornerback drafted. Everyone knows Wilson, a standout college punt returner in addition to cover corner, is plenty fast, though. He remains a virtual lock to be drafted in April's first round.

That sucks. Maybe its a blessing in disguise though. If he ran a 4.3 or so, some team would probably pick him up before us. Let's hope he slips to #20, we select him and he turns into the second coming of Darrelle Revis.
