View Full Version : WR Marcus Easley (UCONN)

Many of you know I have a spot in my heart for UCONN players (seeing as I go there). With the draft somewhat in sight (and not a day too soon) I wanted to introduce everyone on here to a UCONN guy who has very little hype but IMO could be one of the steals of the draft.

As the title suggests, I'm talking about Marcus Easley who is a redshirt senior, who until this past year was a walkon with I believe 5 career catches. This year however he caught 48 balls for 893 yards and 8 touchdowns and that is even with him not being a major piece of the offense until the fifth game of the season. Over the last 8 regular season games and UCONN's bowl game against South Carolina, Easley caught 46 balls for 867 yards.

The results are very impressive but what really sets him apart are his physical traits. He's listed at 6'2" 216 lbs and runs around a 4.4, having been timed as low as the mid-4.3's before. He has very solid hands but I wouldn't say they're great, is more than willing to go over the middle (where I'd say he did most of his damage) and is absolutely deadly after the catch because of his size and speed (there's a little bit of Andre Johnson in him when he's got the ball in his hands). Right now he's projected around the 5th or 6th rounds because of his inexperience as a starter and if he stays at that through the combine and Texas vs. the Nation game, I would kill to have him.

Here's a little highlight from the local news (no highlight videos on youtube).

Good find. Thanks for sharing.

Depending on what this kid does at the Combine he could go higher in the Draft. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick if he blows the scouts away. Even though WR is not high on the Texans list I wouldn't mind seeing them get him in the 4th if he's there, but we have more important needs in the earlier rounds IMO.
