I'm withholding judgement on this guy. He could have a good run, or be a one hit wonder like this:

By the way, this is also Kubiak's song to Chris Brown.

Charles Rogers and Chuck Norris once made physical contact. That eventually caused 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Billy Mays' death, and an impending asteroid impact in 2441.

On a more serious note. Why didn't they get him 1 more reception so he would have his 14th career 10 for 100 game?

Come on man! The fans need something to cheer for.

I say we keep him for one more year and see if it finally starts clicking for him.

We got lucky on that one, I heard Casserly liked Rogers more. Same with Ted Ginn and Smithiak.

Actually, IIRC, it was Dom who liked Rogers and Casserly like AJ. Could be wrong, but that is how I kind of remember it. None of which matters, because we got the right one.

Schaub was 28 for 40 for 367 yards and a touchdown, topping 4,000 yards a week after setting a franchise record for yards passing in a season, and Johnson hurt the Rams’ secondary with four of his nine receptions going for at least 30 yards. The Texans made it difficult to blanket Johnson by moving him around and occasionally starting him in the backfield.

“He can do it all,” Rams cornerback Ron Bartell(notes) said. “He’s got the size, speed, run after the catch, blocking, everything. There’s nobody in this league that compares to him.”

so if he doesn't get to 10 TDs this year, he'll still be w/o a double-digit TD season, that's ridiculous

What I REALLY liked was his comment about , " Not being anywhere else...", or words to that effect. He is the FRANCHISE and one of the greatest NFL players that I've watched. He makes Jerry Rice seem almost small by comparison. BTW, Rice is my all time favorite wide out and the record books speak for themselves. Shaub isn't exactly Joey Montana.....

TheRealJoker
12-20-2009, 08:17 PM
AJ has the opportunity to become just the second receiver (Jerry Rice did it twice) to lead the league in receiving yards in back-to-back seasons.

He currently has a 223 yard cushion over the WR in 2nd place...

Big Lou
12-20-2009, 09:03 PM
he might be good :fingergun:

Nah, he's not even as good as Brandon Marshall according to the CBS Pregame Poll. I mean Andre Johnson only has 1433 yards this year. What a disgrace, I just can't understand why the Texans never went after a true #1 WR.

AJ can't even hold a candle to Marshall, Johnson should change his number as a tribute to honor Marshall because he obviously could learn a lot from a whiny, TV falling thru, 2 game suspension, crying on the field, fighting with team mates guy like Marshall.

Sorry, just a little pissed at how stupid people are and this just seemed like the right place to vent.......

Rice is small by comparison to the tune of 20-25 lbs.

Shaub isn't exactly Joey Montana.....

You're right - Montana never passed for 4000 yds in a season. That in no way implies Schaub is in the same class as Montana, just that he is on pace for 4775 yds so he isn't holding AJ back (except arguably in the red zone and its hard to tell if that is on the design of the plays).

Andre Johnson is the best thing to happen to this franchise besides the city getting the Texans...what makes him a pro is he does his business and doesn't complain while barely being noticed for his accomplishments.....BUT here is an interesting statement from an outside fan on an ESPN blog:

Andre Johnson is one of the top WRs in the NFL, but calling him the top WR is unjustified. I have just seen Johnson be either a nonfactor or just average in too many big games throughout his career, like that huge game at home against the Titans where other than that 49 yard catch and that 12 yard TD catch, the guy was invisible: 2 catches for 17 yards. It happens far too often to blame the QB or the coaching. Big time players don't just rack up huge stats ... they make big plays in important games that lead to victories that determine whether teams make the playoffs or not. That's what DeSean Jackson AND Larry Fitzgerald did last year. Seriously, if it wasn't for Jackson for the Eagles and Fitzgerald for the Cardinals, both the Eagles and Cardinals miss the playoffs, and Matt Leinart and Kevin Kolb are starting QBs in the NFL. Kurt Warner is probably retired, and Donovan McNabb is either in Minnesota, Chicago or San Francisco right now. Andre Johnson for all his numbers in a very stat friendly offense for a team that doesn't run the football (meaning that they have to throw a lot more than other teams) has never had that type of impact. The guy will have 8000 career yards at the end of this season, and those have to be some of the quiestest 8000 yards and 41 career TDs (he may get to 45, though I doubt it) in NFL history.

Now I'm not gonna hate on the poster but I think he just further proves that our offense should target AJ more. Even with a healthy OD and a performing Slaton, AJ should be the focus. Put him in the slot, out wide or move him around and make defenses adjust to where he is. The Cardinals do the same thing with Fitz by moving him around. All in all though AJ is the man and I wouldn't take any WR in the NFL today over him

He was one catch away from another 10 catch, 100 yard game. That would've put him 3rd all time IIRC.

It really bothers me that he never acts up, wears a wig or does some funny endzone activity.

I'm telling you right now, that sort of non-commitment to the entertaintment side of Football just wont fly around here!

Being overseas its impossible to catch every game however, I do see them almost every other week. My point is this, I see AJ line up at different spots but I still see the same routes: Deep out, post, go and slants. Granted he is productive and he gets his looks, it just seems that of the top statistical WRs we seem to not do as much to constantly keep the pressure on defenses with our biggest playmaker.

In a couple of those highlights, AJ clearly has to slow down. Had Schaub hit him in stride, it was a touchdown. Great example, the Titans game last year when he had Griffin and Finnegan beat on a double move.

Perhaps the key word in MT's statement is "often".

Schaub is definitely improving in that regard, though. That first play of the Seahawks game was sooooo nice to see...perhaps because we don't see it often enough. :shades:
