Against Jacksonville. IT's our first offensive play. The one Matt goes down, & dislocates his shoulder.

All year, I've been commenting on how poor Eric Winston's cut block is. I've even gone so far as to say that he is our worst offensive lineman. It's a bit of a controversal opinion, as Some consider him our second best, if not our best offensive lineman.

ON this particualr play, the guy that knocks Matt's shoulder out of the socket went one-on-one with Eric Winston. & true to form, he puts out the worst cut block I have ever seen. The defender, who eventually runs around him & dislocates Schaubs shoulder, just walks around Eric.

But that's not what upset me about this play.

Duane Brown, who I've been calling our best offensive lineman, does the exact same thing. A pitiful cutblock, that misses. His man actually gets to Schaub before Winston's man. & it's not like these DE's did anything spectacular, they just jumped to the side, then proceeded to the QB. As a Matter of fact, neither seemed impeeded by these two beached whale looking bumps on the field.

Like I said... Duane Brown has been arguably our best offensive lineman. He usually isolates his guy, and keeps him far away from our QB.

But this looks like somebody said, "Duane, what you're normally doing isn't what we're looking for here. You see how Eric flops on the ground contributing absolutely nothing to the protection of our QB? That's what we'd like to see you do more of.... see here, how the pass rusher isn't bothered by what Eric is doing... like he's not even there.. to the fans, it's close enough to look like effort, but it's actually a well orchestrated flop.. that's what you need to do more of. Just get enough of the guy to make it look like he's very athletic.. nothing wrong with getting beat by a freak athlete."

Like somebody is teaching that crap.

If both tackles are cutting the ends then the ball is supposed to come out bang, bang, bang...Schaub held on to the ball like it was his kid. The only thing worse than the result of that play is the fan breakdown.

But neither tackle cut the ends. They tried, didn't work.

What are you talking about fan breakdown? Let's stay on point here. Those were two of the worst cutblocks I've seen all season.

I'm not blaming the sack on anybody.... I'm talking about the pathetic cut blocks.

We can talk about the very next play, where Eric got Bull rushed into Grossman.

But that was probably Grossman's fault as well. Right?

Regardless, the OLine was pitiful today. That was maybe the worst front 7 in the NFL that knocked out our QB and harrassed him all day, while not allowing a consistent running game. Pathetic!

Matt needs to take a page out of Peyton's book on taking hits.

Peyton has a rocket arm, and can hit the sidelines with the ball in his sleep.
If Schaub tries it, it's a pick-6.

OK, but what does that have to do with what I said?

I figured the implication in your post was, that Peyton doesn't take direct hits.
I'm just saying his rocket arm is a huge reason why.

Thats one of the reasons he avoids sacks, I'm talking about when he does get sacked. Hardly anyone ever gets a clean hit like that on Peyton, he knows a sack is inevitable and he goes down before the contact takes him down. Clean hits on Manning are almost non-existant and Matt needs to learn to go down before he gets his head (or shoulder) taken off.
