What do you think about our fans calling for the head of Kubiak, who's
given us the most talented team we've ever had, and the first time our team has
been ranked in the top ten of ANY positive stat category??

I think fans are about 50-50, which is fitting for Kubiak's 8-8 streak.

How did Kubiak "give us the most talented team we've every had"???? He's not the G.M. Also despite all that talent you talk about he's only coached it to a 8-8 season..... that doesn't speak very well for him. Getting excited or being content with the "best 8-8 team in the history of the NFL" is a loser's mentality. People should shoot higher.

Saying this is the best team Houston has ever had isn't really saying much either.

That OU one is awesome, but I still love the one of the little blonde kid the most. The girl above just looks sad. The kid in that famous pick during the RRS looks like someone just ran his dog over in front of him.

Uh, not that that would be funny, but you know what I mean.

No dice, Dex.

Improvement on offense aside, every season is bigger than just "improving" in any statistical category. It's about winning.

Some teams win ugly, but they just find a way to win (Baltimore comes to mind).

This team is not a winner. And I don't think one more year is going to somehow magically bring out the best in the team. You can sense that the players are trying, but they have that finger on the big red button already.

Kubiak haters can't deny we've had our best four drafts in Texans history
since he's been here. I'd rather keep our trend of good drafts going, and
let Kubiak learn from his mistakes, than blow the whole squad up and return
to the "One-or-Two-Good-Players-Per-Draft" trend. As long as our squad
keeps improving, I'm game. We ain't the Browns, or Chiefs, or Seahawks.

This squad is young, and they are improving. Keep the trend of improvement
going, and we'll be a good, DEEP team.

I dislike the term "Kubiak hater". I do not think it is hateful to feel that Kubiak has taken this team as far as he can take it. The evidence is mounting against him much more than it is accumulating in his favor.

Obviously, let the season play out and see where we're at when it's over. Let's see how this team - KUBIAK'S TEAM - responds to three tough losses and a restless fanbase.

But let's not wear blinders or tinted glasses in our end-of-season evaluations of the head coach, his staff, and the team that they have put together.

I hope in hindsight we see a team that fought through the adversity and critics to go on a 5 game win streak for a 10-6 record. Make or miss the playoffs with that record, I could see a solid case to keep Kubiak. But lose 3 out of the next 5, and that case will be built on sand. JMO

The word "hater" can be applied as a colloquialism to signify the "talking
down" of a person or idea. With that aside, I'm apparently alone when
I say that Kubiak has NOT yet reached his ceiling as a coach. What I see
are a young front office, young coaching staff, and young players, all fighting
together to find their winning formula. Their mistakes on the field go further
than the head coach at this point. The first two years under Kubiak were
when we were accustomed to the squad having VERY LITTLE TALENT. The
third season started with a disaster in Hurricane Ike, with a very young
squad going 3-7 thru ten games.

This year, we're a little more talented, but the players hadn't yet learned that
the NFL is a machine in which you MUST grind EVERY WEEK. They've had
growing pains in the first 10 games of this season, but they still started 5-5.
It's still the best 10-game start of any Texans team in history. They ain't
goin' 8-8 folks. Mark it down.

Kubiak haters ...

LOL, it has begun again. OK, this is how it is going to play out. Those that want Kubiak out after this season are going to be labeled haters, not real fans, etc by those that feel we need just a little more time. Kubes will get more time and the results will be the same or worse.

Does any of this sound familiar? Some just see the light before others. That's OK, eventually Kube supporters are going to start to fade when everything is painfully obvious until everyone is on board with the firing. We've been down this road before.

Signed,

One of the Original Casserly, Capers, & Carr Haters

I don't disagree with you, Dex, and someone could write a countering argument that is just as solid. I won't do it here simply because we've already discussed on this stuff.

The point is that a young team needs more than first time coaches at key positions to get them over the hump of learning to win in the NFL. We have a first time GM, HC, OC, and DC, so how long are you willing to wait during the learning curve? Seriously, 10 more years with Kubiak? 5? 2? 1? At some point even you would throw your hands in the air. Other fans have just reached that point earlier than you would, so while you see reasons, others see excuses.

It's all perspective, my man. Personally, if it ain't a coach like Cowher, I'm more inclined to stick it out another year. I hope they can pull four wins out of these last five games to make that an easier perspective to choose.

I'll make it clear. I'l run to the front of the picket line for FIRE KUBIAK, if
they finish on any WORSE than a 4-1 run. If they finish 10-6, or 9-7, I'm
willing to wait ONE more year. 8-8 or worse, Bob needs to make a change.

Was I clear enough?

One thing I do not understand from your logic is how you can be happy with 9-7, and yet unhappy with 8-8 when they are virtually the same thing...

No playoffs

One thing I do not understand from your logic is how you can be happy with 9-7, and yet unhappy with 8-8 when they are virtually the same thing...

No playoffs

8-8 in the AFC West got the Chargers a division title last year.
9-7 in the NFC West got the Cardinals a shot at the superbowl.
The Atlanta Falcons went 11-5 in a division much easier than this one.
The New England Patriots missed the playoffs with an 11-5 record last year.

The point is, it's all relative. I still remember where this team was BEFORE
Kubiak got here, and how it's a complete 180 in just 3+ years. Mr. Mcnair
wants this team to be a consistent winner, year in, year out. However,
it's VERY difficult to do that if you don't draft well. Free agent shopping
will get you a good year or two, but it's hard to sustain that. How are
the Dolphins, or Falcons doing now?

It's my stance that Kubiak is not yet the coach he WILL be. His ceiling hasn't
been reached. I think he'll be a better coach this week, and a better
one next season. Listen to Bernard Pollard: "Change isn't always good." This
team is not yet 8-8. They scored 17 unanswered points against the Colts
twice in the same season. The best this team has to offer is just bubbling
below the surface. I believe Mr. Mcnair is of the same opinion I am.

Kubiak is my coach RIGHT NOW. When the season ends, we'll evaluate the
obstacles this team faced, and how they handled those situations. You lose
two-thirds of your O-line, your all-world Tightend, your RB regresses, your
starting safety, you get NO lucky bounces, and FEW good calls from the
officials, and you're still within an eyelash of winning your division.

Last year, this squad OVERACHIEVED with what they had. Now, the depth
of this team is very apparent, and the fact that so many of you are frustrated
with a 5-6 record shows how far they've come. Dom Capers NEVER had a
NON-LOSING season, yet you want to lump Kubiak/Smith into the same
category of Capers/Casserly. There IS no comparison. This team, coach,
and GM, have not yet reached their ceiling. Let 'em grow together. You'd
have to be a serious pessimist to poo-poo a 10-6 record with where this
squad has come from.

It's because I don't expect this team to go 3-2 the rest of the way. I can
throw 8-8 out there, 'cause it won't happen.

Jags - win
Rams - win
Seahawks - win
Miami - win
Patriots - pickem

So, you see. The worst that'll happen to this newly motivated, battle
seasoned team, is 4-1. I expect them to go 10-6, until the playoffs
are removed definitively from their table.
