One of Brian Cushing's most admirable qualities is he doesn't seem to be too impressed by anything.

Football has taken him coast to coast. He grew up in New Jersey and played in college at USC. Drafted 15th overall last spring, the outside linebacker seemed NFL ready, Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak said, from the first time Cushing stepped off the plane.

"He belonged from day one," Kubiak said.

Cushing plays like it, too. He leads the Texans with 88 tackles and twice has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

"It's funny because everybody talks about the big stage," he said of the NFL. "The play is definitely better (than in college), but the crowds are smaller and the places aren't as loud."

Keep in mind, his college home games were at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which has a capacity of 92,000. Cushing also played four consecutive years in the Rose Bowl, capacity 92,542, in Pasadena, Calif.

Me likely number 56. I see a jersey in my future.

This guy plays like he's been in the league for a few years.
