Quin just sat there and watch him make that catch.

He was picked on the play.....atleast he was in the picture to make contact with the receiver. Dunta wouldn't of even been in the frame.

They picked Quin thats ILLEGAL! Its what the refs called on us against JAX. Wheres the call?

Wolf6151

He went stiff, I think he was knocked out momentarily. Glad he's not hurt though.

Yeah. I didn't see that until the replay. My HDTV's aspect ratio is all screwed so I can't see much. I dont even know how much time is left in the game.

Offense MUST score a TD and eat up clock as well.

Pantherstang84
11-08-2009, 02:46 PM
is it me or do the Colts run more picks than the Rockets?

No. Picks are illegal. The other teams run picks. The Colts rub.

Spike

Notwithstanding the last TD, the d has held up their side of the bargain.

The offense needs to go take a nice, long drive for the winning score.

Just so we're all keeping score here....

Dunta Robinson....has cost us 7 points.

Connor Barwin.....has cost us 7 points.

and

Matt Schaub has cost us 3 points.

That's 17 of their 20 points folks. You can't win when you beat yourself.

Nope. What cost us this game were the inordinate amount of penalties. We gave them over 100 yards in penalties. How many times did we give up a 3rd down penalty by doing something stupid like lining up offsides. To beat the playoff teams you cannot give the ball up or have a ton of penalties.

Kubiak letting the clock run out so the Colts could challenge cost us the game.

One decision never costs you the game. For all we know the rushed play could have been a pick 6.

The 20 horrible calls by the refs.
The bad blocking by the line.
The picks by Schaub.
The linebackers getting eaten up by Clark.
The D-Line getting little pressure on Fetus face for the first half.
Missed tackles.
The first half funk on offense.

They all add up to the total sum of a loss.

Jup, penalties, penalties penalties... some more just than others.

Nope. What cost us this game were the inordinate amount of penalties. We gave them over 100 yards in penalties. How many times did we give up a 3rd down penalty by doing something stupid like lining up offsides. To beat the playoff teams you cannot give the ball up or have a ton of penalties.

Sorry but I agree with Leahmic223. That had to be the worst coaching by any team this year when we let the clock run down to the 2 minute warning in the first half. Run a damn play so it can't be challenged. And don't forget that Kris Brown almost didn't get to even try a kick because of the boneheaded call of throwing to the middle of the field.

Schaub is on the hook with Kubiak for throwing stupid picks in crucial situations.

k when moats fumbled the ball was that ball not suppose to be spotted on the 1 yard line cause thats were he ran out with it after the colts guy picked it up... or did the refs get that right?

When the colts defender grabbed the ball, the ball was on the goal line. Hence the touchback.

Kinda expected this loss, so not too upset. Actually, I think we put on a pretty good show (all things considering) and we went the distance with the Colts and just came up wide left. If not for the bazillion penalties and spotting the colts 10 along with 4 turnovers... well.... woulda coulda shoulda.

.. and can Schaub perhaps take a millisecond on the timing routes and make a read that if there are multiple defenders in the area to perhaps go to another read?

What happened was Moats fumbled it and went out of bounds. The ball stayed in. The Colt D player stepped onto the field and took possession of the ball when it was in the endzone. While he was not down, the whistle was called. So, technically it would be a touch-back since the ball is in the endzone and the Colt player has possession.

As much as I would like to say its a bad call, the truth is that was the correct call by the refs.

Spike the ball. It was complete stupidity to not run a play. It wouldn't have been rushed either. Schaub stood there and did nothing. I must of yelled run a play for at least 10 seconds. Idiotic.

But you don't know what might have happened had that occurred. There might have been a fumble, an int, a pick 6, or whatever. For all you know Chris Brown comes in and gets stopped 4 times.

What we do know is that several Colt drives were extended by penalties such as late hits, holding, or lining up in the neutral zone. Thats a fact. Go back and count how many times that happened. I bet you will be surprised.

Penalties, fumbles, sacks, interceptions out the azz. We don't want to be a playoff team. For what? So we can go get owned and get bounced, for what? Just to say we made it to the playoffs. Please. This team can't handle the playoffs. Kris Brown let the colts off the hook. The biggest kick of his career and he blows it. Completely blows it. Wastes all the effort from everyone else that put the team in a position to go to OT.

I understand that one play doesn't affect the entire game. We don't know what would have happened...

But we know one thing, that any savvy coach would have ran something to make sure that play wasn't challenged. Kubiak, i'm not saying he isn't a good coach...but sometimes he just has these lapses.

Maybe it wasn't him, maybe we don't have anyone telling him that the play had a good chance at being reversed. Maybe it was Matt who didn't know what was going on. But if we keep the ball there, there is a pretty good chance we come away with a score, any type of score.

It's little things like this add up and we lose games like this always.

To me this loss is bad, just as any loss. I don't feel happy we played the Colts close, we always do! Now we are floating around .500 just like we always are.

That always has a huge effect when you get turnovers in the RZ. The Turnover could have easily been prevented. That's all i'm saying.

Well penalties were the other reason and we were just up against it.

Also the 1st qtr we didn't run enough.

But that sticks out to me. Nothing we could do about some of the penalties we were getting. I loved how the ref was right there on our last play watching a Colts player wrestle to keep Jacoby Jones down (Ref even breaks it up!) and nothing is called???

I dont view this game as a moral victory, I view it as a victory WE SHOULD HAVE WON...

The game was within our hands, we came to THEIR city, and our team stepped up and straight played and showed we can hang with the Colts. We shot ourselves in the foot with about 159 penalties but I really want to put the blame on Kubiak. If Kubiak is going to send messages to guys like Slaton and Brown for making game costing plays through fumbles, he needs to hold himself accountable for making game costing decisions! An obvious fumble or not, it was questionable, and the fact that you let them sit there and think about it because you wanted to run 6 or 7 seconds off the clock to get to the two minute warning (which because of that warning game them about 4 minutes more worth of review time) is straight idiotic. RUN A PLAY, have Matt Turk in their as a wildcat QB spike the ball into the ground for all I care, JUST RUN A PLAY and take that challenge away you *****. We're on the one, give them the benefit they punch that in and we have 4 more points. We lost this game by three.....

I'm seriously hoping I wake up tomorrow and read this headline on ESPN.com , "Kubiak's inept Brain Shrinks from Quarter to Dime Size after Defensive Player's Fist to Face". I also hope they spend this bye week running "Challenge Worthy" Play Scenarios in practice, where they have game like situations and have Kubiak decide if he should challenge them or not. That or make him run through a couple of brain teasers or Soduko's

I just decided to watch this game again. This was the start of our 4 game losing streak.

With 12:57 left in the first Qtr, we get the Colts lining up to punt. Kevin Bentley gets called for a neutral zone infraction. They show Kubiak on the side using his favorite word (bull****) several times, as he chews Coach Joe a new one. & he's yelling at Bentley to "get your ass off the field."

I just thought that was funny.

So now the Colts are looking at 4th & 1 from our 32, and they're going for it. Manning is lined up under center, they hike the ball, it's a play fake away from Mario & double team Mario with the LT & FB. Mario doesn't really look like he's putting up a lot of effort, but who knows? Maybe he's waiting to see if the FB slips out for a screen.

Antonio Smith is giving the RT all he can handle, as he pushes him 2 yards back into Addai as he fakes like he's got the ball. Addai has to back up, then go around. Antonio ends up with the RT 8 yards in the backfield. Manning is 10 yards in the backfield.

Amobi Okoye is beating the hell out of whoever #66 is at this time. Nov 8, 2009. He's got 66 six yards in the backfield, before he tosses him, and attacks Manning. He's barely a step from Manning, before Peyton Throws the ball out of bounds in the vicinity of Addai.

I know it's only one play, but very impressive from the underperforming Okoye.

Wow, just saw the Moats fumble on the sideline. Kubiak gets the blame for that one, for calling a timeout. I've heard it argued that Schaub is rushing to the line to spike the ball, then Kubiak calls a timeout.

But Schaub has the Offense at the line, about to call a play, but for some reason he doesn't. He looks at the defense, doesn't like something, and let's the clock run to the 2:00 minute warning. The team is still in their stance, as Schaub walks away, with 9 seconds on the clock.

Whoa... REggie Wayne throws a pass on a fake end around, and Pollard intercepts the BAll. Manning says they ran the play last week, and Caldwell was called a genius because it worked. It didn't work this week, and he's a dud.

Just thought that was kind of funny.

They were at the LOS, about to run a play. Schaub didn't like the defense, and called a timeout.

IN the 4th, we're on a good offensive series, when one of their LBs hit Matt in the face, and he throws an INT. They don't call roughing the passer on that guy, like they had on Antonio Smith earlier.

But the defense holds, and we get the ball back, down by three. We make our way back down the field again, spike the ball with 1 second left, to give Kris Brown an opportunity to tie the game.

Well, you know the rest.

Did anyone see the Packers beat up the Colts last night 59-24? Running back Joseph Addai left the game in the third quarter with a concussion and linebacker Gary Brackett hurt his right hand. This new umpire positioning rule, led to 2 "illegal snap" calls against Manning. Manning was livid. He was flustered enough after the 2nd call, that he fumbled the ball which was returned for Packers TD. But this rule may put an end to some of the shananigans Manning has resorted to before his snaps. Apparently the center can't snap the ball until the the umpire is back further than the furthest offensive player from the LOS. The QB then has to look to the sideline to receive a signal from a line judge indicating that he can legally call for the ball to be snapped. Peyton Manning felt that while attempting his hurry-up offense complained that the official took too long getting into the backfield.

Wow! Great find man. Yes I believe this will put an end to what Manning does before the snap. Do you remember last year when Dunta smacked the crap out of Addai on a second down play that made it like 3rd and 13. Well Dunta goes on to show a small celebration (which I didn't like) so Manning hurries the troops up to the LOS and fires a 30 something yard strike for the 1st down and to get them back in the game.

He wont be able to do that anymore or as often.

Not exactly the way any team, including the Colts, would like to close off their preseason. And that is essentially what has happened in that the Colts are expected to keep their starters in 0-2 series in this Thursday's preseason finale.

Colts' worst preseason loss brings slew of injuries (http://www.indystar.com/article/20100827/SPORTS03/8270366/1004/SPORTS/Colts-worst-preseason-loss-brings-slew-of-injuries)

During the game, middle linebacker Gary Brackett (right hand), running back Joseph Addai (concussion), offensive tackle Tony Ugoh (toe), defensive tackle Antonio Johnson (groin) and cornerback Jacob Lacey (concussion) departed. The severity of injuries wasn't immediately known.

On the field, not much worked as the Colts were inefficient in virtually every phase in front of a sellout crowd of 68,987 and a national ESPN audience.

The Colts allowed the most points in their preseason history while the Packers tacked up their highest total since a 75-0 blowout of the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Crush . . . in 1938.

Preseason or not, consider it a comprehensive tail-kicking:

The Manning-led offense scored two touchdowns and a field goal on its first four possessions. Its next five drives generated just 77 yards and included an interception and lost fumble by Manning.

The defense had few answers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers or any other member of the Packers offense. Rodgers passed for 195 yards and three touchdowns before calling it a night at halftime with the Packers in front 28-17. Green Bay finished with 430 total yards and 33 first downs.

The Colts have yielded 130 points in three losses.

For a second straight game, a rookie return specialist muffed a punt. A week after Ray Fisher failed to handle one, Brandon James went him one better. Despite calling for a fair catch inside his 10-yard line, James was unable to secure a sailing punt. Packers fullback Korey Hall recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

Special teams weren't finished. The coverage unit allowed a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown by Jason Chery in the fourth quarter.

"There's an old adage that you're never as bad as you think you are when you lose, never as good as you think you are when you win,'' coach Jim Caldwell said. "There were some positive things in there, but we were not as sharp as we'd like to be.

"We were out of sync and (had) too many penalties (12 for 116 yards). We certainly did not play the way we're capable of playing.''

The loss was the Colts' 22nd in the past 26 preseason games. But this one might have hurt worse than any of the others, physically as well as mentally.

We'll see if "it's JUST preseason"..........or if this year, it takes more than a large shiney forehead to show the way for the Colts to continue to shine.

In reference to the hurry up offense with the new umpire position:

Spagnuolo believes quarterbacks who frequently run no-huddle attacks such as Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning and New England’s Tom Brady won’t be greatly affected because they usually “sit and try to see what you’re doing (defensively)” before making their calls and running the play. But teams who want to catch a defense off-guard with a quick snap at specific times, such as a short-yardage situation, may find it more difficult to execute. Defenses also should be able to substitute more easily if there are delays in spotting the football.

New rule could affect hurry-up offenses (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/NFL-umpire-rule-could-affect-no-huddle-offenses)

Well, all I can say, it certainly seems to have had an effect on Manning yesterday.
