View Full Version : The Raging Bull Defense!

Mean Machine

The General wrote it today on Chron.com, Raging Bull Defense.
The way the Texans Defense has played these last 5 games, they may well be on their way to getting a real nickname that sticks and has meaning!
#1 in 3 and outs
#1 against rush (last 5 games)
#4 in forced turnovers
#16 in yards per game(taking into account the first 3)
WOW!!!!

Let's hope the Raging Bull Defense stops the colts on Sunday!!!

I like it.

I guess it was inevitable that they'd have to lift the name off of one of the tailgate crews.

#4 in forced turnovers.. I wouldn't have thought that...

I guess they happen a little at a time, that you don't notice them piling up.

At least I didn't.

Good job Texans.

When I watch the games this year, I get blown away at the difference in the D. Even in games where they played poorly, like vs the Tits, you could see something special.

No doubt. When I first rewatched that game was when I realized that we were going to be good. And some where in the Cardinals game I realized that we are.

If anyone wants to read the article, here's the link (I didn't see it posted anywhere): http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6702042.html

It's a pretty good read and you can't help but see and feel the improvement that they have made in the last few weeks. I give credit to the coaches for not freaking out and doing something stupid. They stayed their course and knew it was only a couple of key people making some mistakes that turned into huge plays for the other teams. Remove those players, make the correction......problem solved.

It is better than "No Bull - No Defense" which has been the case until this year.

I don't care what we call them as long as they keep on keepin' on. They make me smile.:doot:

Mad Cow Defense.

Yeah, that sounds like a bunch of hormonal post menopausal women. Not quite the image that they're trying to cultivate.

I understand that it has to be some sort of bull/cow motif.

The Stampede, perhaps?

If they really got good enough for a name ... IDK .

Defenses of the past

No Name defense = Miami ... came from a Tom Landry quote .

Steel Curtain = play on team name

Fearsome foursome = four mean guys .

Doomsday defense = it's Dallas who cares .

Purple People Eaters = team color .

85 Bears = Chicago Bears of 1985 .

NY Sack exchange = Jets had a good front four led by Mark Gastroenteritis and Joe Klecko .

Nebraska = Blackshirts ... beats me except maybe the defense wore black at practice .

Aggies = Wrecking Crew ... IDK .

"Eminence Front" for the D line would be a good name for all the high draft picks. They could introduce the defense with this Who song. I think people would like it.

We are getting better that's the most important thing and how will the texans be able to re-sign all the good young players that we have in the future is going to be tough. Bernard Pollard was a great addition to this team and I can't believe the Kansas City Chiefs cut this former 2nd round pick this season.

I still like "The Bull Rush", which, while I have no proof of this and don't feel like searching for it, I believe I was the one who first used that.

In any case, whatever they call the defense is alright by me as long as it is a term of respect. I'd rather Reliant be nick named "House of Pain" rather than naming the defense.

Frank Bush, a player during that time, is close to reviving that temple.
I couldn't have ever imagined him being THIS FAR AHEAD of Richard Smith.
As a leader, he's finally gotten our defense to play as ONE UNIT. The
previous regimes just allowed them to function as the Line, Linebackers,
and Secondary. Bush has actually gotten our defense COORDINATED, so
that each phase of the defense relies on, and trusts, the other phases.
We saw what happened when our offense came together like that, they
became one of the best in the league.

Already, our defense has been PERFORMING with the best defenses in the
league. Every player, TO A MAN, has nothing but praise when it comes
to Frank Bush. Last year, when asked to defend Richard Smith, they would
only say "we just do what was called." When they struggled early, they all
would say, "Frank put us in some great calls, but we're just not performing."
"They need to fix this, or get 'em out of our huddle." The Busings, Barbers,
Adibis, and Bennetts were removed, and the unit has jelled and excelled.
