John David Booty highlights the group of those who tried out Tuesday

The Texans also tried out quarterback Bobbie Reid, wide receivers Chris Davis, Dallas Baker, Willie Reid and Patrick Carter and tight ends Dezmond Sherrod and Carson Butler.

No player was immediately signed to a contract.

Just saw that and he could be a better backup then Grossman or Orlv.

I dunno but guess that's further admission that they blew it on the Orlv signing ? And why would they try out more TEs, isn't it already our deepest position on the roster ?

What a bizarre group to try out...

If he ends up on our roster, then I'm gonna start worrying that Kubiak has John Gruden's quarterback collecting syndrome.

Having said that, he'd be a nice project QB.

Anyone else worried about all the WRs we tried out? Says something about AJ?

I'm hoping they're just doing their due dilligence.

Every single week the Texans try out players on Tuesday, every single week outlandish assumptions pertaining to those try outs are made, and every single week those assumptions fail to hold up, yet every single week people continue to make them.

You'd think we'd learn at some point, no?

If we were truly looking for a WR we wouldn't have released Jenkins from the PS. I'd think he'd be the first in line for the job. He knows the playbook and he's done well for us.

Hmmmmmmmmmm ......

Anyway, I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb to say that I'm assuming next Tuesday's workouts will lead to contract signings and give a clear and concise indication of our plans and team makeup for the remainder of the season. I can't wait to see!!! :peek:

I always thought Dallas Baker had something, big rangy WR IIRC. Acceleration was his downfall, but good top end speed and really solid hands.

interesting. any QB move in Tennessee right now is going to be tightly scrutinized due to the Bud Adams v Jeff Fisher VY Meltdown going on right now.

The most interesting of those IMO is Bobby Reid, IIRC, this is that QB:

AJ tweeted yesterday that his lung felt better and it was tweeted today by Nick of Houstontexans.com that AJ was running and did a lot of pre practice activities but did not practice but Kubes feels good about what he saw

This makes the signing very interesting.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/10/28/john-david-booty-gets-a-new-gig/

The arrival of Booty in Nashville only four days before the Vikings play the Packers is, on the surface, meaningless. But Mike Reinfeldt, the Titans' G.M., was an eight-year member of the Green Bay front office, from 1991 through 1998. Per his online bio, Reinfeldt was "instrumental" in bringing to Green Bay Ron Wolf, the G.M. who knew that Brett Favre would become something much more than a hard-partying Mississippi kid with a dyslexic last name.

More recently, Reinfeldt was rumored to be in line for the CEO position in Green Bay, and he remains close friends with Packers G.M. Ted Thompson.

It's probably all one big coincidence. But we wouldn't be shocked to learn that Booty's initial duties include a brain-picking conference call with Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy as they prepare to host Favre for the first time ever.

The Titans just may be the team for a QB to go to right now. KC isn't getting it done. If VY starts and flops and is let go, then they've got no one at QB.

No, this doesn't make me any more worried about AJ, & I don't think it says anything about Andre. Houston has five other WR's on the roster besides AJ. I don't think they need anymore, with or without Johnson.

It happens all the time. It is hard to believe that one team would sign a player so they could pass info on to their friends on another team.
