No surprise.....

The first pick in the 2005 draft is getting another chance to become something other than a bust.

Yes, a day after he replaced Shaun Hill at halftime of what was a 21-0 deficit in Houston, Alex Smith has been named the new starter in San Francisco.

Per Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, coach Mike Singletary announced the decision during a Monday press conference.

I want to know how in the hell he wasn't their starting qb already. Its obvious they were a much better offense with him on the field.

I dont think we'll see the Alex Smith vs Texans defense again this season. We have a reputation for making mediocre QBs have a good run. I expect a return to reality for that guy

Smith has twice the ability Shaun Hill has its crazy to see any logic to why Hill was starting over him.

Alex Smith Career stats

450/822 (54.7%) for 4885 yards and 22 TDs / 32 INTs

Im guessing this is why.

Physical ability does not a great QB make

Hill would have been able to move the ball just as well against the butter soft defense we ran in the second half. Not like it matters. Both of their QBs are embarrassingly bad.
