I'm hoping the Texans come out and keep doing what they were in the first half. To hell with the playing conservative, we need to put the nail in the coffin. :goodnight

TheIronDuke

Shaun Hill isnt Matt Schaub and their receivers are'nt our receivers.

That doesn't matter, if we do play like we usually do with a lead we'll just try to grind out out on the ground and punt. It just takes a turnover or two and they're right back in it. Trust me, this ain't over.

Mailman
10-25-2009, 02:40 PM
Yeah let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We were down 21-0 against AZ and came back. It can happen. And with the way we play with a lead I'm not fully sure this won't come down to the end. If we just come out and run three and outs all the second half we can easily let SF back into the game.

Y'all should heed this wise, wise man.

Sixty minutes. We're only at thirty, so let's not jinx it mmkay?

Mike Singletary: "Our formula is THIS!!! We go out, and we SIGN A BETTER

DexmanC

Heh. Alex Smith comes in. He can at least challenge us deep. 9-in-the-box
doesn't work to well for the 49ers, so they made a change.

Alex Smith?

Another reason for me to feel nervous. Think "Frank Reich."

Alex Smith threw his first Td ever against us 2005. I don't want it to happen in this game.

mariowillshine15

We are becoming really good at run defending since the first few weeks. Gore is going nowhere.

Well i said Shaun Hill wasnt Schaub but Alex Smith looks pretty good lol

DexmanC

3 defensive penalties on that drive. They need to discipline up.

TheIronDuke
10-25-2009, 02:50 PM
This team just doesn't know how to play with a lead. I bet our offense will also look like crap their first drive of the half. We're a tale of two halves team.

This is the Texans. For goodness sakes, we've seen more bizarre things from this team, on most weekends.

GuerillaBlack

Knew this would happen if they pulled Shaun Hill. Even mentioned it on the 49ers board. We traditionally do bad against backup QBs. Hopefully, our offense comes out blazing. This game isn't over.

We suck at playing with the lead. No urgency. That falls on Kubiak he needs to have Belichek's go for the throat attitude.

GP
10-25-2009, 03:00 PM
This is nothing that can't be cured by getting David Anderson's ass off the field and put Jacoby Jones in there in his place.

I am freaking sick and tired of seeing David Anderson get that pass and end up a few yards short.

Great guy. Funny guy. Catches the ball.

But he does not have the chops to get UP the field in a situation where another player could get UP the field faster.

DAMNIT.

GP
10-25-2009, 03:01 PM
This is where Vernon Davis or Crabtree gets the call.

Or a screen to Gore, trying to take advantage of over-pursuit.

Kubiak says: No re-do, we'll take the yards.

Smart man. No need to risk a JJ fumble at this point in the game. If we were needing a play, make 'em re-punt the ball.

I want to see a long, sustained drive that chews up the clock and gets SOME form of points on the board. FGs are OK at this point.

Thorn
10-25-2009, 03:05 PM
Excellent. Now we score again and SanFran is toast for the day.

Gotta get that fixed bro!

He needs to freaking know when he's done, when the yards are no longer there, and just get knees down onto the field.

He's fighting so hard, and people are gang-tackling and getting those strips at the very end of the play: Sometimes even when forward progress is stopped and the ref SHOULD be blowing the whistle, but oh well.

The fact is that he needs to stop straining and just go down to end the play.

Right -- in the open field, they just want to tackle you in most cases -- but when they are gang tackling and have you wrapped up, the next thing they will ALWAYS try to do (if they are well-coached) is to start pulling and punching at the ball.

Last year, especially vs. the 2nd Titans game, we had our offensive line practically dragging and pulling Slaton for extra yards.

That started the trend of trying to continue the play for a few more inches that might end up getting a few more yards and maybe a first down instead of having to punt.

We might need to just reverse that ideology and be happy with retaining possession of the ball.

I'm not digging on our defensive philosophy this half, either.

There's a lot of empty real estate in the middle of the field. Can't believe the 9ers haven't recognized it and started throwing slants in there to Crabtree or Davis.

Anyways, this half has sucked BIG TIME.

I don't want 21 more points on the board. But sustained offensive drives are needed.

Otherwise, we're just good only when we play a team that sucks and can't do better than us.

The thing is that many will give Alex Smith the credit, and maybe some is deserved, but the fact of the matter, for those in the know, is that the Texans always do this with a significant second half lead. Sometimes I wonder if what I am watching on TV is really happening in real life. I've never been to a Texans game in Reliant. Is there really a game going on there today, or is someone creating this at some studio in Hollywood...with my house being bugged and I'm part of some big, cruel joke.

Exactly. A demoralized team is MUCH easier to dominate, than one you
give "new life" to. The Texans were gonna rout the niners if the ball
were not turned over. Now, it's gonna be MUCH harder when you give
this team reason to believe they can beat you.

True. I think it wasn't a smart thing to do in that situation but it was usually something they'd let go, plus the 49er player's retaliation was twice as much as he received -- how it wasn't offsetting is beyond me.

Delayed blitzing, with our other two LBs playing man-to-man over the shallow middle, is going to get to Alex Smith.
