Reeves may not play against Oakland. He apparently hurt his hand this morning in practice. Didn't see an existing thread so I posted it.

Somebody kill me.... please.

Demps was a safety, you have to use your hands alot more as a corner.

Well if he cant play against Oakland I dont know if i'd want him to have his first live game action against the Cardinals stud WRs...

Would've been better to PUP Reeves and have a contributor on the active roster the first 6 games rather than constantly saying he's "day to day" after he missed the target date of week 2.

Bennett took a page from Tonya Harding's book .

A one handed Reeves is better than a no hands close enough to do any good/no eyes even looking at/not even thinking of covering/and I sure has hell can't tackle Bennett.

LOL, yeah come to think of it.....it's not like this team runs press coverage so why the hell does Reeves need two healthy hands for anyway. :)

We sure never had to worry about him getting a neck injury from him turning his head.

Not for me!

I saw improvement in Reeves late last year, but he's still a questionable starter.

I saw Bennett in nickel situation, unproven as a starter, and therefore even more questionable as a starter.

I never bought into the notion that our rookies will be enough especially early in the season.

I wanted them to get another guy in the draft or free agency, but they didn't.

Therefore, we still need another marginal body out there.
And now, we don't even have that! :gun:

yeah me too LOL

with the way our coverage has been of backing off of receivers and not much bump and run, I don't know how much an impact he would have made (I know kubiak said it would change )

Look at it this way. Sooner or later we're going to find a team with a WR that's so bad even Bennett can cover him. The Oakland Raiders just might be that team!

I mean, we don't know. It could happen. Couldn't it? He can't lose every match up on the schedule.

With this defense, our gameplan must be for the offense to score 100 points, because that's the only hope we've got!

not sure DB, as fast as we score, the defense gives it up faster..

my gameplan

we kick off. they score, then we use the rest of the half for our drive (15+ minutes) ...then we are 7-7 at half
we get the ball at half and go on a 30 minute drive and we win 14-7..

no worries :splits:

Someone needs to point out that crooked-ass finger on Torry Holt's hand to Reeves and tell him we need him out there.

I seem to remember a QB for the Saints playing with a cast on his non-throwing arm. And several defensive players with casts on arms and hands - not that long ago. (well - it might have been 20-30 yrs ago when Archie Manning played - I have slept since then)

It just seems like a scratch, or a couple of stitches or a bruse keeps these namby-pamby players on the sidelines nowadays.

Where are the men - you know the REAL men?

The thing is Reeves can hardly afford the down time.
He might become too rusty when he finally comes back, and that doesn't bode well for the D's outlook.

Well, describing it as a "hurt" hand or finger doesn't emply that he's had a digit split in half. But yet again...why doesn't the hand get a cast and play on? Players do it all the time. I'd rather have a DB on the field that can deflect a pass or (God forgive me) defend a WR than one who spends the entire game looking at a WR's nameplate. Is his shoulder broken, becuase someone has told our DBs that's all you use to bump a WR to the ground.

I might be wrong, but I don't think they will put a solid cast over something that has been surgically repaired or stitched up. I've always had a soft cast with rigid splints after my surguries.

Smith should have traded the Pats for Hobbs in the offseason. The Texans would have added good depth and a guy who knows how to win, instead of all these young cats who look lost or suck.

Tape it up put a cast on it. Should not be a problem. Texans don't tackle with their hands anyways- only shoulders to bump them down - or just flat out miss the tackle altogether.

I wouldn't be surprised it Reeves didn't play this week either. With a compound fractures (bone sticking out of skin), there are factors that usually dictate a more conservative approach to back to play. It depends on what level (proximal, middle or distal finger bone), how extensive the fracture was (single clean break vs. comminuted), if it included a joint, how it was repaired, how extensive and limiting the required support bracing is, and, very importantly, how the soft tissue repair is healing. If a compound becomes infected, bone death and permanent non-union of the fracture is the rule, with potential loss of function, sometimes ultimately even leading to amputation. Whether Reeves plays or not depends on many factors, least of which is dependent on his level of pain tolerance.
