View Full Version : Is it not ok to voice/post our frustration?

I think quite a few people get upset about the negative threads, but if you watch the forums by end of week usually things cheer up as people get it off their chest and start to look at it next week?

Is there anything really wrong with this? Being a fan is about the ups and downs, why can't I cheer for my team and still be critical of them when they mess up? Why can't I expect more from my team, is that being a good fan, bad fan, or is it just that people are tired from us being the same team we have been for the last few years?

Nothing wrong with it. It's just part of being a fan. You ***** because you care about the team. If you didn't care, or just followed them when they win, then you would not feel the pain of losing.

If someone doesn't like your critical posts, don't sweat it. You can't please everyone. Consistent losing is frustrating to watch, and frustration breeds animosity in folks. Sometimes these negative feelings get taken out on each other as fans. I wouldn't worry about it or take it personal. It's just part of being a fan of a mediocre franchise.

Like DB said, I wouldn't sweat it one bit. If fans want to glare in the sunshine of embarrassing losses and for a team that has yet to go past 8-8, then let them, but don't think that you can't voice your frustration for one second if you want a winning team the way some of us do. There are a lot of homers around here, so you have to understand that from time to time, you'll get blasted simply for telling the truth about an under achieving team that's never had any real success. Speak your mind brother! Speak your mind!

I was just suprised that my thread got closed, even though it was unpopular, just bad timing/wording I guess.

I think we see a lot of people try and take a less-stressful stance on how emotionally involved they get for each season and/or game within the season....only to snap out of the coma and realize that they have been falling into that habit every year for almost a decade.

So there's a lot of self-loathing going on, on here. Which is natural.

When you realize that your best chance at staying a fan of this team is to hang onto the lifeboat and not let go--to dangle in the icy water and try to stay alive for just one more hour, hoping the rescue boat comes--you begin to imagine all the ways you COULD be spending your time, money, and energy...instead of going through all of these emotions every week.

If we had a playoff run, something really GOOD to look back upon, then it gets easier to believe that this team can pull off a really good season in the futre.

But all we know is a tradition of "the wrapper looks appealing, but the product inside leaves you angry that you bought it." This team should not be THIS bad, and it's taking its toll on people who have been financially and emotionally invested for almost a decade.

Cue Zac and Vanessa: We're all in this together... :highschoolmusical:

Maybe we can have a "Damn Doll" section on the forums for the negative post so people dont have to see it.

I'm not going anywhere, are you kidding if I can live through the Oilers losing to the Bills in the "comeback half" I can make it through this, but I hope that with other fans I can get what I have to say off my chest and move on to the next week.

I like that idea, we could even name the forum appropriately.

I was just suprised that my thread got closed, even though it was unpopular, just bad timing/wording I guess.

I hadn't read your closed thread before I posted here, so I had to check it out. I think the nature of that thread was attracting more animosity and potential flames than it was worth, so a mod closed it down.

If you want to make a critical post cool.

Just be sure that your can back up your assertions and make a good argument why it is valid. Don't make lazy arguments because there's fans on this board that are analytical enough to expose it. If you do, don't get offended because you didn't put forth the effort.

I think the projected success of the Texans this year got some new people on the board and involved in posting. So if they see what they deem as "negative nancies" don't understand the history behind what some people are arguing/saying.

Being critical of our best offensive player and best defensive player is kind of trollish, and that's what people have a problem with. Calling out Mario and Schaub is pretty lame and a real good way to find yourself on many ignore lists around here.

Emotions!

Yesterday I was mad as hell! Had to vent, etc, etc, etc.

Today I'm sad. Just feel blah, like depressed

Tomorrow I'll be hesitant. Do I really want to get my hopes up??!

Wed I'll be hopeful. Well, I'm thinking about getting my hopes up!!

Thurs I'll be positive. Yep, my boys will come out of this with some FIGHT!!

Friday I'll be elated! Hell yea, I'm hopeful!! We're gonna kick some Raider butts! Our boys will regain the fight they had against Tenn!!!

Sat I'll be ready!!!! Tailgating stuff packed, tickets in purse, gonna dig out all the flags and magnets, and BE READY!!

Sunday I'll be THERE, ready to help my boys take on the Raiders!!!

The biggest thing you suffering is thinking that you have to start a new thread to express those frustrations. You are not the only one, who does this, but there are plenty of places where you are free to say Mario has not played to expectations or that Schuab did not step up in the 4th quarter.

You're free to feel the way you feel, man.

I'm not sure any of us know what response we're supposed to give you; the response that you are needing from us.

We're sort of all out of answers ourselves.

But the thing that frustrates me the most is when every person starts a thread because they want to showcase THEIR feelings and make THEIR feelings look more in need of attention than others. I think that's where you swerved into the flames a bit with people on here.

We could honestly just extend the Game Day thread and continue to post on it, instead of having 12 threads about how our defense messed up. Scanning the threads after a loss is like looking for job as a waiter in the Sunday classified ads section of a major newspaper.
