The National Football League was sacked by the recession over the past year. How did your team do?

Tight credit markets, a precipitous decline in the number of people who could afford to buy a team and an unusually high number of franchises looking for investors combined to lower the average revenue multiple used to value teams from 4.7 to 4.4

The skinny
Market size does not matter that much in the NFL, but your market does. The Texans have never been to the playoffs and have never won more than eight games in a season. Yet this year the team increased its average ticket price 3.7%, to $67.37. The Texans had the nerve to boost ticket prices because the Houston economy is much stronger than most NFL cities and the team's average ticket price will still be a few dollars lower than the league average. The Texans celebrated their 70th consecutive sellout at Reliant Stadium against the Bears in the last game of the 2008 season. The team's $300 million stadium naming rights deal with Reliant is the richest in the NFL.

Raiders...last...oh come on! Sure we've been failing for a good number of seasons, sure we have a senile owner who will probably be in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest a "man" has lived, but..but..we have fans...while some of them may think its Halloween every game day...WE HAVE FANS DAMNIT. Seriously though, besides my obvious slight bias, I don't think Raiders deserve to be last on that list:tearup:.

I am surprised the Jags aren't last on that list.

Stadiums factor heavily into that equation. The stadium in Jacksonville is worth a lot more than that dilapidated building in Oakland. Afterall, Jacksonville keeps theirs covered up with tarps, protecting it from the elements.

#1 for mine. Though they keep referring to the owner as "Jerral Jones."

Exactly...if you are going to make fun of the name..use the "h" not Jerral. :foottap:Everyone calls him Jerrah. Next we will see Jerras.

In a strapped economy, McNair has certainly made a hefty profit for this such successful team............year by year, the profit has seemed inversely related to the fans' pocketbook, but right in line with annual big promises for a better product. Of, BTW, when you go to Reliant, help the cause...........have another beer.

I know, I just think they should stick with old Jerry or the Jerrah moniker. Jerral just is odd.

What is the "Revenue per fan" stat supposed to tell us? Please excuse my ignorance. :cowboy1:

How much is my team worth? To have the steel blue and no association with Bud?
