Sure there are areas that need improvement. Sure we made some mistakes. But overall, I think we played a very nice game, against one of the best running games in the league, and one of the best, if not the best defenses of the year.

The guy that impressed me the most, on offense, was Chris White. I was surprised to see him replace Myers so early...... but he did much better tonight, than he did against KC, and NO. If he plays like this, I can see him replacing Myers.

On defense, Demeco. He looked like the Demeco from his rookie season, and has me amped up to watch our defense play.

Amobi.... also looked good. He was so close to making some plays in the back field, I think he'll get there, and make those plays, against the normal teams that make up the majority of our schedule.

Connor also looked pretty good. Great speed, and IMHO, has better awareness than mario did when he started his rookie season. I understand we are not as desperate as we were back then, and there's no need to start Connor. I'm just saying.

I don't think our tackles played the run any better than they did against N.O. I think Cody is weak. But our LBs, and our Secondary played better...... especially Demeco.

If we don't play down to our competition, I still think we can have a special season. A winning season.

Demeco looked good. Mario looked good. Adibi showed flashes. Barwin had some moments also. But all in all I think we are going to be ok for the season. I predict at least 10-6

On another note. If Favre ever goes into the porn industry he will have a line of the top ESPN execs and announcers all the way down to the the mail boy wanting to be his fluffer.

As far as Barwin, I LIKE that kid, but MW didn't have MW on the other end to fade the heat in his rookie season like CB does. I liked the effort tonight. I'm looking forward to the Jets and being 1-0 to start the season.

Isn't it amazing how a guy can get so much love for a rather pedestrian showing? A BUNCH of his yds. passing were YAC's because of piss=poor tackling. Favre and the entire staff at ESPiN need to get a room and get the pillow biting over with. It's embarassing to the rest of the world.

For the little we saw of him, I liked Chris Brown again tonight. If we get this version of Chris Brown paired with last year's version of Slaton, we'll be alright in the run game. Of course, if frogs had wings, they wouldn't bump their ass when they jumped.

I completely agree with you. I was impressed. My impressions for what they are worth:

General Scheme Impressions:

Defensive wise, I was really impressed, at least from the second play on. The defense played with heart, and played some smash mouth football. There were a couple of player specific errors but overall I was impressed with how we ran to the football, and arrived with some wood.

Player Specific:

Dominque Barber has better range than I expected but needs to work on his angles. That first play he just took a terrible angle and AP scored as a result.

Brice McCain brought the wood on one play, I was impressed. For being the fastest guy on the team, he still couldn't catch AP from behind. Then AP is a freak.

Eugene Wilson I thought did well today, except for that terrible tackle on the sideline on Chester Taylor, he tried to push him out of bounds rather than wrap him up and drag him out. That was a big error, hope he is alright though. That was such a crap hit on him by Favre.

Okoye looked like what he thought was when we drafted him. Exceptional quickness through the line and good speed in pursuit. I was really impressed one play in the first quarter when he scraped all the way down the line and made a first down saving hit on AP.

Okam made some good plays but you have to wrap up.

DelJuan Robinson looked good getting into the backfield, making plays but he should have stayed on his feet against Tavaris Jackson, when the end lost contain.

DeMeco Ryans looked like his first and second year self again. Outstanding today. Brought the wood, made great plays in pursuit, tackled all over the field, was quick through the Oline on that sack and showed a lot of fire. I see a pro bowl season for him this year.

Williams looked good today against a mammoth OT. It was a good game for him. He always amazes me how quickly he can get around the line on stunts and Dline games. The fact that he got to Favre after going up field, coming back, racing around the line and arriving in control was spectacular.

Connor Barwin continues to make an impact, that tipped ball was huge and he applied pressure on several plays. He is that impact pass rusher that we have been looking for.

Adibi made some plays today almost had that interception on that Favre pass. Great play.

Likewise Diles made plays all over the field, but he got washed out if I recall correctly on several plays today too. Just reaffirming the common opinion that Diles is a better Will or Mike than a Sam.

Can't say that I saw a whole lot of Antonio Smith today. Maybe I just missed it but I didn't see him around the ball that much, did he get manhandled by the giant Vikes Oline?

Offense

Schaub made some great throws today, had good pocket presence and made the right call by going back out there. He also made a good play by running for that first down. He had one pick but otherwise he made good decisions.

Orlosky looked really good. Between this game and the last couple, it was a world of difference. Very Impressive. Good reads, quick release, and for the most part accurate.

Alex Brink was not so good. He just seems to have accuracy problems. Not my favorite.

Not surprisingly there was not a lot of running room against the leagues top running D. Overall I think the RB's usually got the most out of what they could. Slaton made the wrong cut on one or two plays but no big deal, i.e. he tried to get outside when it would have been easier to cut inside the tackle, etc. Foster looked pretty good, also getting the most out of what he could. Brown is being that Short yardage back we need, IF he can stay healthy.

Wide recievers all looked good today, as did the TEs. Just rock solid. AD is a player who needs more touchs and has hands of glue. Love the guy, just makes plays. AJ was AJ.

The Oline really didn't get any movement against the Vikes Dline. I thought Duane Brown looked outstanding against Jared Allen. I am really excited to see the progress he has made. More than that he showed that fire that I have been looking for on the Oline. He flew over and got in 91s face after he kneed Pitts when he was down, and got in the Vikes Dlineman (who was too slow getting off Schaub) face. Awesome, I love that mean streak. They did look a lot better in Pass pro, I was really impressed.

Daniels did what Daniels does, which is get open and hold on to the ball.

Special Teams needs some work. There was absolutely no running room for JJ on any of those returns, but I was impressed with how securely and surely he caught the ball.

Glenn Martinez made a great special teams tackle on Percy Harvin from one knee which probably saved a touchdown. He is a player.

As DocBar said, we need a tackling clinic, it was piss poor.

Or, my personal favorite, if the dog wouldn't have stopped to take a shit, he would have caught the rabbit.

I think a lot of the tackling problems come from not tackling in training camp. I know they don't want injuries in training camp but I think it makes the guys develop bad habits that take a while to break out of in preseason.

AO came to play, he seemed much improved after last week's performance. If he can show up similarly on a consistent basis he'll be alright.

You knowing what a fluffer is gives me cause for pause.
