I just realized it's only 11 days until the first preseason game at KC. Live Texans football again the weekend after this coming. The drought is coming to an end. We are almost there. :)

It's been months with no football. I don't care what's on TV, it's all about football! And this year, for the first time since the Texans were in it, I actually have a team to root for in the HoF game. I'm not sure who it is, but whoever is playing against the Tacks. Jets?

The Chiefs are my "second favorite team" after the Texans so I always have
mixed feelings when they play each other.
Anyway its an important game for the Texans because the Chiefs are migrating to the 3-4 and given the history (much of it bad) we've had with that defense, we need the practice against their 3-4 since our season opener is also a 3-4 team.

I know I hate pre-season football. So why am I so looking forward to it getting started next Saturday night? I don't think I've ever been this anxious to see some pre-season action since the first season.

And FWIW speaking of the 1st season, that is the only time the Texans have opened the pre-season away from Reliant Stadium. Next Saturday night will be the 2nd time.

Bad news is that our terrible secondary isn't even ready for a preseason game and has a long ways to go.

Good news is that our rookies and 2nd yr. players will learn alot about NFL football in these preseason games and should mature alot as well. Also I can't wait to see our new D-line and LB'r corp working together and can't wait to see if Duane Brown has really taken steps in the right direction and if Steve Slaton can pick up where he left off.

yeah, our cornerback situation is worrysome to say the least, but the young guys will get a lot of experinece soon. I don't think we'll see the first teamers past the 1st quarter though, but in some positions on our team, the 2nd string IS the 1st string now.

I know I hate pre-season football.
I love preseason football. I go almost 8 months without watching my team play, and I'm starving for a game. I don't even care about the score (that could be the Dom Capers effect). I think the NFL Network will show 50 preseason games this month, and I will see the lion's share. I'll even watch the Lions. I can't wait. :doot:

Oh no...I love it 'cause it's football, don't get me wrong. But pre-season is a different game and by the time that 3rd and especially the 4th game rolls around.....well, you know. Can we get to some real football already?

I'm becoming more and more in favor of dropping a couple of pre-season games and adding them to the regular season. The regular season is just too damn short, the shortest of any sport, and the pre-season is too damn long.

Oh, and GO Le Bills!!!!!!!

Amarillo stations are currently NOT showing the game live as it happens.

But the DirecTV channel guide could be updated between now and then.

I'm happy also Nitro, but there's only one setback.

The two players I was looking forward to see the most won't be playing, Cushing (well because he's the 1st round pick) and Arian Foster (because I heard so many good things about him and I'm worried about our backup RB spot....hoped he would've filled it.)

Regardless though, is Glover back from his little nick up?, because I'm excited to see him play as well. Heck regardless it'll be fun, because it's going to be Texans' football, just wish I could see Cush and Arian.

Those are two good ones. I think I will try to keep a real close eye on Duane on offense and Adibi on D. There really are still a ton of guys I want to see, going to have to re watch this game a couple times to get a look at all of em. Should help kill time in between games.

Foster is out for this game. Yet another disapointment. I really wanted to see him run and figured he would get a ton of snaps. Oh well. Probably see a lot of Moats and Andre Brown. I don't expect Slaton to get more than 3-4 carries if that, and Chirs Brown maybe a half dozen and then it's on to the 4th string candidates.

I think Chris Brown will get fewer reps than Steve Slaton. It's been that way all through training camp. Chris Brown is getting loads of positive talk from Kubiak and company yet I didn't see him run as much as I would have liked. Sounds like they're being very cautious with him.

Really disappointed in Foster. However my biggest disappointment is in Cushing not playing but I understand, I almost hope he sits out all preseason to be ready for the Jets. The matchup to watch will be our defense vs. their offense. Our 1st teamers need to look like the better unit vs. their offense. I don't expect the KC defense to keep up with our O, even the second & third string. That 3-4 transition is a rough one, lots of guys will be in wrong places. I expect our QBs specifically to star in this one.

Over all for this year I expect the offense to be better out of the gate. However I expect the defense to start showing it's improvement later in the season. Almost hate to say that, and I hope I'm proven wrong about the defense, but that's how I see it for now.

I wonder what I'll be thinking after KC? LOL

I wish Herm Edwards was still coaching them.

LOL. I went to the Chiefs' message board, when Herm got the job, and I told them that Herm was a team killer. Some agreed. Most were mad that a Texans fan would dare say that to them.

He did n-o-t-h-i-n-g to deserve the Chiefs HC job when he was basically ran out of New York (Jets) just one season prior. Plus, he took his offensive coordinator with him (Hackett, I think)...which was double trouble for the Chiefs.

Those two guys made that Chiefs team look as normal and vanilla as Dom Capers had made us.

If Herm were still coaching, we would blast them.

I'm thinking this will be a new Chiefs team with a new outlook on life.

Yeah, I'm not a Herm Edwards fan, either. It's going to be interesting to see how the Chiefs look. The company I work for is based in KC, so I work with a TON of Chiefs fans. I'm really wanting to see how much we're going to show in the preseason. I would say we usually run a vanilla D in preseason, but that wouldn't diferentiate it from the regular season. This year, I hope it's different.
