Darius Walker Signs With The Broncos
Posted by Mike Florio on May 7, 2009, 5:41 p.m.
According to the Twitter account of agent Drew Rosenhaus, running back Darius Walker has signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos.

Walker, a former Notre Dame tailback who was undrafted upon leaving school a year early, played for the Texans in 2007, and bounced on and off the team’s roster in 2008.

In Denver, Walker joins a very crowded house at the running back position.

And, in honor of DW's forehead....

They could use his forehead to replace a fullback, H back, and TE in short yardage situations, though.

Why do we hate on guys who did everything they could to make our team & help us win?

Is this the kind of fans we are in Houston?

Because its the off season and we're bored.

That's why.

Me, I liked DW. I wish he would have stuck here. But he didn't. And he's a Bronco.

With a huge forehead.

Oh, and we're bored.

Exactly.

So I'm just not sure what you want from us when we're faced with THESE kinds of circumstances!

:smiliedance:

In the meantime, discuss amongst yourselves the likelihood of Darius Klingon unseating Ryan Torain or Peyton Hillis and us being the beneficiary of that move.

Either way, I figured we all were little more classier than that. I'm not really liking this thread much.

Darius was a good guy.

I, too, liked DW. He just didn't live up to what we were looking for at the time. The important thing to note in this transaction is that another team is potentially interested in our "cast-off" RB. And an even more important point to be gleened is that they are not happy with the "12-pack" of RBs they presently have on the roster.....................which bodes well for us having a chance to screw that monumental mastermind of a new HC out of someone with some actual talent..........hopefully, Hillis.

Hey, McDaniels.....................Ill gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!!..............

Does camp fodder normally get a two year deal?

Best wishes to him.

He's going to team with a lot of running backs, Walker will have to make a lot of improvements to prove he's the 3rd best back on the roster.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off if Darius Walker ends up back here. It won't happen though. But it's almost a sure thing we are going to have some RB from Denver's camp coming to Houston for a try out.

What does it matter how long the deal is, if none of the years are guaranteed?

Is there any mention of a non guarantee?

I'll wager 400 Quatloos on the newcommer.

Is there any mention of a non guarantee?

Since the standard for NFL contracts is for them not to be guaranteed except for signing bonus there doesn't need to be any mention.

I agree, Darius was a good guy. I rooted for him...

But most of us also loved Sam Cassell.

Agreed.

I hope he'll stick in Denver but I'm thinking he better start running down field on coverage units or he's going to have a hard time sticking anywhere.

Well, with Denver now collecting RB's like Chucky did with QB's in Tampa, his chances are slim at best.

IMO, he didn't have the burst a RB needs to pop through the LOS. I think slower RB's can make it in the NFL by having a quick low end burst. Walker never showed low or high end quickness.

Hey let's look at the bright side of all this. Now Denver is taking our rejects. They are now called Houston North.

which is a little surprising when you consider the Shanahan/Kubiak connection is broken

one would think that young Josh would be rooting through the N.E. refuse heap and not ours

When we signed David Gibbs to coach the secondary, we reached our max level of forehead glare.

Something had to give. Sorry Darius.

I still say David Gibbs is missing out on some serious marketing dollars...
