The Detroit Lions select:

NOVI, Mich. (AP) A judge has jailed ex-Detroit Lions top draft pick Charles Rogers for violating probation in a domestic violence case.
Court records show the 27-year-old ex-Michigan State star receiver falsified records saying he attended Alcoholic Anonymous meetings and tested positive for alcohol.

Novi District Judge Brian MacKenzie granted Rogers' request Tuesday to leave a diversion program and serve 30 days in the Oakland County jail, with credit for 15 days served.

Rogers was the NFL's second overall pick in 2003. The Lions signed him to a six-year, $55 million deal, but injuries sidelined him most of his first two seasons. He was cut in 2006.

Just imagine how things would've played out if they had taken AJ with the #2 pick. We would have taken David Carr & Charles Rogers in consecutive drafts with huge signing bonuses up front. We would probably be the ones trying to shake off the stigma of an 0-16 season.

Or trying to shake off the stigma of at least a couple of 0-16 seasons...

had him instead of "goody two-shoes" AJ.

Charles Rogers used to have it all.

Talent. Fame. Cash.

Now hes in jail.

The second pick overall in the 2003 NFL draft chose to be locked up for 30 days, with credit for 15 days served, instead of staying in an intensive drug counseling program after violating probation in a domestic-violence case.

Im just going to do my 10 days, get out of the court system and try to get in shape for a comeback, Rogers said today in a telephone interview with the Associated Press from the Oakland County jail in Pontiac. Am I sad about the way my life has turned out? No, because I know the strides Ive made to take care of Charles Rogers.

Court records show the 27-year-old ex-Lion receiver tested positive for alcohol and falsified records saying he attended Alcoholic Anonymous meetings.

The sad thing is he opted for jail instead if trying to get into a drug rehab program and getting help. This guy NEEDS to get his life together.

That was my exact thought after reading Am I sad about the way my life has turned out? No, because I know the strides Ive made to take care of Charles Rogers.

Sadly, Denial has put him on this track........Denial will keep him on this track.

We would've been in position to draft Robert Gallery...and Cedric Benson the following year...

It's helpful to put the subject of the topic somewhere in the thread title. Just a pet peeve of mine.
