Good pick. He is a little skittish going up the middle and looks to avoid contact rather than initiating it.

But he is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, maybe the best in the draft besides Harvin. He also has good top end speed and a great burst.

With the 142nd pick in the NFL draft the Washington Redskins select Maurice Evans DE Penn St

Evans is extremely talented but has some character concerns. He was had the same production as Maybin in 2007 before his pot charges. This late in the draft is a good time to take a chance on a guy like Evans.

Evans ran a 4.78 40 @ his pro day & fills a need for the Redskins.

After watching Cushing on path to the draft, I feel great about my draft. Now we have Ringer for some more explosion out of the backfield. I let go of the whole big back/small back idea. I also like ringer as a pass catcher in our offense.

I still like the big back/small back one-two punch. Kubiak has even said publicly that it's the direction he wants to go. Ringer's even smaller than Slaton.

The guy I was hoping to fall to the Texans (not that you'd take him, but I love the guy) was Courtney Greene, SS.

With the 145th overall pick, the Eagle select...

Otis Wiley - S - Michigan St.

http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/35/358111.jpg

~ Even with Sean Jones on there roster, the Eagles need some depth at Safety. Wiley is a tall and quick S who can hit as well as be a playmaker in the backfield.

When I look at "best available", I'm not really seeing anything that synchs up well with their needs. They've already hit 3 of their biggest needs.

Here's a long list of guys I'd expect to be gone or to go by now.
Dannell Ellerbe, ILB
Scott McKillip, ILB
Jonathon Casillas, OLB
Corey Irvin, DE/DT
Vance Walker, DT
Kevin Ogletree, WR
Brandon Tate, WR
Christopher Owens, CB
Jerraud Powers, CB
Bradley Fletcher, CB

I don't know, though. Maybe a QB like Curtis Painter or Stephen McGee?

I hope not because we're so close to the finish. I think people have lost interest because most people could care less about Day 2 draft picks. IMO, I think we should start a totaly different mock with only 3-4 rounds.

Thanks for posting my pick JC. I took Turner because the Rams have a need at WR after Torry Holt's release and they could really use a big target to go along with the speedy Donnie Avery. Turner, at 6'5 223 lbs, is a huge target with great hands. He doesn't have blazing speed, but for a guy his size he moves pretty well.

St. Louis Rams draft thus far:

1 - T Jason Smith, Baylor
2 - CB D.J. Moore, Vanderbilt
3 - QB Josh Freeman, Kansas State
4 - RB Rashad Jennings, Liberty
5 - SS Emmanuel Cook, South Carolina
6 - WR Patrick Turner, USC

Great draft so far IMO.

With the 164th pick the Cleveland Browns select:

Kevin Ogletree - Virginia, WR

Much has happened since grabbing an OT in the 4th. Stallworth will likely face jail time as well as an NFL suspension. His career has been unproductive at best to begin with.

There were a couple intriguing TE's, but with Heiden and now Royal a WR was a no-brainer here.

The Browns draft so far:

1. B. Orakpo DE/OLB
2a. D. Brown RB
2b. C. Francies CB
4. TJ Lang OT
6. K. Ogletree WR

Im got the guy I targeted again. I cant imagine Cinci having a much better draft tahn this one.

Cinci GM 2009 DRAFT
1st Andre Smith OT Alabama
2nd Clint Sintim DE/OLB Virginia
3rd Kraig Urbik OG Wisconsin
4th A.Q. Shipley OC Penn State.
5th Cedric Peerman, RB, Virginia
6th Quinn Johnson, FB, LSU

This team needs alot but I wanted to start with improving the running game and add someone with pass rushing skills. I feel like I drafted at least 4 maybe five starters (bolded) and one player that could push for playing time early on in Peerman.

For the Texans here I would be looking at a receiver like Aaron Kelly or Kenny McKinley. With Kelly you get a big receiver who uses his body well, with McKinley you get a speed guy who could help out in the return game.

How about this pick: Graham Gano. Was a punter his whole career at FSU and was great at it but also kicked FGs his senior year. Won the Lou Groza award and the only kicks he missed last year were a couple of 50+ yarders and an extra point (first kick back from a knee injury).

In the bowl game against Wisconson in December he put 3 punts inside the 3 yard line.

We could replace Turk right away with Gano IMO, and maybe even groom him for FGs later on when Kris Brown leaves. It would be nice to have a guy who could punt and kick, maybe opening up a roster spot, or just providing vesatility.

Now that I think of it, I really like the Graham Gano pick here.

Of course, that is assuming he doesn't get picked before the Texans come up.

This HAS to be Greg Isander, Guard from West Virginia. 325-Lbs quick linemen who played in ZBS scheme. If the Texans DON'T get this guy on a mock or in the real NFL draft someone's gonna get hurt.....jk.....NOT!!! :wild:

He is on my wish list for the Texans if he is still available in the 6th round. The guy is so good though I doubt he last that long. My bet is someone will take him in the late 4th or 5th round.

I'm down for Isdander... but before my pick is in can someone refresh my memory on what RBs are available? Texans so far have addressed OLB, FS, DE, NT, and CB. I still say go with the value but hopefully that's at RB/OC/OG.

With the 173rd pick in the NFL draft the Washington Redskins select Julius Williams DE-LB Connecticut.

Williams is 6'2 255lbs & runs a 4.62 40.

Williams was the Kozlowski (courage) award winner this year at Connecticut. He has untapped potential IMO & is a high character guy. Williams fills a need for a pass rusher & can run well enough fill a need for a SAM LB with size.

I considered Williams & Ashlee Palmer. Williams size & character won out over Palmer's speed because the Redskins need a SAM more than a Will.

The Bears select Joel Bell OT Furman
6 feet 7 312lbs.
Bell finished in the top ten in every positional workout at the combine.
Away from the combine, Bell worked in drills run be the colts line coaches. This workout drew scouts from 25 other NFL teams, including the Texans.

Bell is inexperienced in playing football due to living overseas for 11 years. He returned to the U.S. in 2001. Started high school football n 2003. Did not play his freshman year at Furman.
For the three years he did play college ball, he was selected all conference at left tackle. He was graded at 91.7 by his coaches for his career.
Bell is smart and coachable. He was named to the conference all academic honor roll.

Bell is inexperienced and played at a small school. But his athleticism, size, and ability to take to coaching are impressive. Could, with coaching, become a very good left tackle in the pros.

This is what makes going deeper into draft rounds fun, for me at least.
I have never heard of this kid, until I starting researching O linemen. He looks like he could become a very good player at a very low pick.

Tampa Bay is a group pick.

Right now, they've drafted:

19 - Peria Jerry, DT
81 - Victor Harris, CB
116 - Mohamed Massaquoi, WR
147 - Brandon Tate, WR

Their Team needs are supposed to be:
Urgent - Fast DT, Franchise QB
Strong - Starting WR, Corner
Moderate - Fast RB, Tackle, CB for Dime
Nice - Center, WR, DE

I don't see anything that really matches up with their needs. The best values I have on my board that kinda fit are:

Christopher Owens, CB
Morgan Trent, CB
Jerraud Powers, CB
Corey Irvin, DE/DT - Hasn't this guy already been selected? Did I miss that?
Stephen McGee, QB

The highest rated tackles I've got on the board are:
Andre Gardner
Jose Valdez
Alex Boone

I think I'm picking Alex Boone at this spot but I could be persuaded to go with one of the CB's.

You have to wonder how much longer the Buccs are going to be known for their D. With Kiffin gone and a lot of his guys getting old and leaving, that scary Buccs D could be a thing of the past now. I wonder if the new coaches are going to transition away from the Tampa-2.

Gardner was 1st team All-ACC he is 6'7 305lbs and ran a 4.92 40 at his pro day.

The only reason he is available this late in the draft is because he tore his labrum in the last game of the season.

This season gardner helped spearhead an OL that had a great running game led by Jonathan Dwyer. Last year when the Jackets had Calvin Johnson they were a passing team. Gardner played LT on an OL that gave up only 10 sacks.

Gardner has great feet. He needs to improve his playing strength.

Round 1 Pick 1 - Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
Round 1 Pick 20 - Eben Britton, OT, Arizona
Round 2 Pick 33 - Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
Round 3 Pick 65 - Shawn Nelson, TE, Southern Miss
Round 3 Pick 82 - Darry Beckwith, ILB, L.S.U.
Round 6 Pick 161 - Jeremiah Johnson, RB, Oregon
Round 6 Pick 179 - Tony Fiammetta, FB, Syracuse

Obviously I wish I went more defense, but I feel good with getting my QB of the future and giving him the tools to be successful. Plus I can go all defense next year when he actually starts. This gives him a year to get to know his new targets, and team, plus defenders can come in day 1 and do very good things.

I like this strategy I'm drafting for the Lions over at HT.com and I'm thinking of taking it a step further by drafting the top WR on the board in rd. two.

The Lions may not be good next year but they will be fun to watch. They can use the rest of the draft on defense and concentrate on defense in next years draft. Which is loaded with defenive talent.

I love the Nelson pick but would probably concentrate on DT & MIKE in rd.3 & take a TE like Haffner in rd.6

Round 5 Pick 135. Bear Pascoe, TE, Fresno State

Coming in the Falcons biggest needs were DT, LB, TE & CB. I feel like I addressed all of them without reaching on anyone. I probably should have addressed the DT position sooner in the draft, but I think Baker is a good pick in the 4th. With the way the draft turned out I feel Matthews was the obvious pick.

The New England Patriots select RB Ian Johnson, from Boise State

The Patriots have an old RB core. Johnson will be able to learn for a year or two, and then assume the number one role. He will contribute on special teams for now. Add to the fact that he is a great team player, and I see the patriots going this route.

With the 189th pick, the Carolina Panthers select:

Corey Irvin, DE/DT, Georgia

Probably going to be a rotational guy at either DE or if he can bulk up and get a bit stronger, DT. He's a hard worker. I think he's a steal at this position.

Nic Harris is still out there. He's a project but this would be a good place to take him. Same with Daniel Holtzclaw. Or maybe Josh Mauga, Moise Fokou, or Stanley Arnoux?

The Cards select K.J. Gerard CB/S Northern Arizona.

Played both CB and Safety in college. Very productive with 19 picks and 41 knock downs in three year career. 21 TFL is very high for a DB.
Good size at 6'1--180. Good tackler and solid against the run.
Doesn't have ideal speed. Runs around 4.6. But production shows him to be a ballhawk. Worth a shot this late in the draft.

my top interior guard still on the board (projected 4th/5th) got a steal. Long arms, athletic, good balance, effective both in run & pass protection. will compete for starting RT or kick inside RG adding talent & quality depth at very least. reminds me a little of former Cowboy Kevin Grogan. along with 4th rd. selection Xavier Fulton & last years #1 Brandon Albert a talented, young OL to protect Cassel & establish the ground game/play action

Ok thanks and that concludes the Rams draft.

1) T Jason Smith, Baylor
- Consensus top 5 pick and one of the top 2 Tackle's in the draft.
2) CB D.J. Moore, Vanderbilt
- A borderline 1st-2nd round prospect and one of the top 5 CB's in the draft. Stock has fallen a little bit lately though.
3) QB Josh Freeman, Kansas State
- A borderline 1st-2nd round prospect that fell dramatically in the mock. I see no way that he goes this late in the real draft. Not a starting QB as a rookie, but give him a few years to develop and he could be solid.
4) RB Rashad Jennings, Liberty
- Top "big" RB in the draft and a borderline 2nd-3rd round prospect. Won't last this long in the real draft.
5) SS Emmanuel Cook, South Carolina
- A 4th round prospect that will not last this long in the real mock because of his versatility.
6) WR Patrick Turner, USC
- One of the most overlooked players in the draft. Expected to go late, but I think a team may take an early flyer on him.
7) MLB Daniel Holtzclaw, Eastern Michigan
- Don't know how he was still around in the 7th, but I'm happy with it. A borderline 5th-6th round prospect.
