Check out Demeco and OD (a very poor man's Chris Cooley.)

And, check out David Anderson, and Maurice Jones-Drew.

This really is interesting stuff. Rep to ya.

I was excited to see that the Texans re-signed McClover. I realize it's a bit of a longshot, but I wonder if he might end up being a part of the pass-rush solution that we've been looking for.

I'm like you, and wonder about his recovery from injury, but I'd love to see him get a legitimate shot at it.

I surfed through some of those links. It's funny to go back and see how wrong some of these guys are. But I also found this for a 2004 mock...

#33. Houston Texans: Forfeited Draft Pick
Houston used this pick when taking Tony Hollings in the 2003 Supplemental Draft. Yet another move by Charley Casserly that I just don't understand.

I just want to beat his face in when I see him on NFL network!:bat:

Nice find. I wasn't as big into draft speculation then as I am now, so I didn't see that site in '06.

Interesting that the Texans got Eric Winston where they did. He's their third-rated tackle, and they even speculate that he'd have to play RT rather than LT.

I think OD is the best out of that TE draft class.:fans:

MJD: Will not break many tackles... is not a great blocker.

Heh. Goes to show how much better a prospect can get as a pro. Definitely more of an exception than a rule - but still.

Shawn Merriman disagrees with their take on his blocking skill :D

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Can't block? Ask a few LB's about how bad a blocker he is. Can't break tackles? Huh?

I love what they say about Meco.

"Does not have great speed...Possesses only average size...Is not a great natural athlete"

Um, oops.

I also like D'Brickshaw Ferguson's analysis. "Has rare athletic ability for the position...Feet are second to none and he is like a big dancing bear."

Yeah. Wiff.

July 3, 2007 Update: Mario Williams struggled to get to
the quarterback, while Reggie Bush was a legitimate threat on
one of the top offenses in the league. Oops. ... Houston made
amends for its poor decision in Round 1 with some of its later picks
Linebacker DeMeco Ryans (2nd round) was a steal and one of the
top defensive rookies in the NFL last year. ... Two offensive in the
third round - Charles Spencer and Eric Winston - both saw significant
playing time. Unfortunately, Spencer was lost for this season and
the next. ... Owen Daniels (4th) was a nice surprise for a franchise
that has never had a potent tight end. Daniels was third on the team
in receptions and receiving yards. ... Although he wasn't very good,
Wali Lundy (6th) saw ample action. ... Still, the highest grade I
can give the Texans is a B- because they botched the No. 1
overall selection

Well. All they had to do was wait another year. I guess we're up to an A- now.

I saw how Draft Countdown has a few "elite prospects" and how this year there are none so far. Wonder if this years crop will be as good as some of those in the past...

The top of this draft isn't very exciting. Not surprising that there's not alot of praise for the top 5, and quite a bit of trouble nailing down who is really at the top of the draft.
