GOPHERS HIRE TEXANS ASSISTANT TO COACH WIDE RECEIVERS
Posted by Keith Arnold on February 17, 2009, 2:17 p.m. EST
With all the talk of college coaches defecting to the NFL, the Minnesota Gophers have nabbed an NFL coach and brought him back to the college ranks.

Coach Tim Brewster announced the hiring of former Houston Texans special teams assistant Richard Hightower to coach wide receivers for the Gophers. Hightower spent the last four seasons on the Texans coaching staff.

Im very pleased to add Richard Hightower to our staff, Brewster said in a prepared statement. Hes a young man who Ive known quite some time, going back to when he played at Texas. Richard has developed into an outstanding football coach. His experience as an assistant coach with the Houston Texans will be invaluable to him as he joins our staff. Richard is going to help our wide receivers be the best they can be.

Hightower played defensive back, wide receiver, and special teams as a player at Texas, where Brewster was an assistant to Mack Brown.

No biggie, but it's Texans news.....

Thought I'd clarify my previous post: I am not poking fun at YOU for posting this thread. Just having some fun, in general, because it's so amazingly boring right now.

Thanks for posting it, by the way. Rep your way!

That's true, and there's pretty much no way Kubiak can be expected to overcome this kind of turmoil. But if he can't get in done in 2010, he should be gone.

Who?

Wait, where is the Dick Justice piece on how this is a major mistake by the self absorbed insecure GM by not offering him more money to stay?

:tiphat: Hey, I'm having fun too... That's the only thing that's made Texan news, so I figured I would post it. :texflag:

I just hope AJ will make another Pro Bowl.

Ok, I've got the problem solved. Mike Leach can come in and take Hightowers place. Leach is probably using that as a barginning chip with Tech right now.....:whip:
