Geoff Kaplan, assistant athletic trainer for the Tennessee Titans for the last 14 years, has been hired by the Texans to replace Kevin Bastin.

Kaplan, 38, interned with the Oilers in 1994 and was hired full time in 1995, which was Jeff Fisher's first full season as head coach. Kaplan has been working with head athletic trainer Brad Brown and assistant athletic trainer Don Moseley.

So.. we stole him from the Titans? Well, if he was part of the reason they went 13-3, then he must be pretty decent.

EDIT: Whoops, I thought he was the new S&C coach.

From titans site: Geoff Kaplan is in his 14th season as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Tennessee Titans and 16th season in the NFL. He joined the Oilers full-time in 1995 after serving as a season-long intern in 1994. Prior to joining the Oilers, Kaplan served as a season-long intern with the Green Bay Packers in 1993. A native of Parsippany, N.J., Kaplan earned his degree in physical therapy and a certificate in athletic training from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He continued his education by becoming a certified strength and conditioning specialist in 1997, and completed his master's degree from Tennessee State University in the summer of 2003. In 2005, Kaplan was certified as a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists. Kaplan frequently lectures on a variety of sports medicine topics, including the rehabilitation of athletic injuries to local and national organizations, hospitals and universities. Following the 2000 season, Kaplan was part of a Titans training staff that was named the NFL Training Staff of the Year by the Ed Block Foundation and the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society. Geoff and his wife, Shelly, have two children: sons Everett (5) and Sawyer (3). They reside in Franklin, Tenn.

Not sure what this means for the Texans, but seems like a solid hire. Anybody have ranking for head trainers?
