This could be our biggest signing this offseason.

We knew it was going to happen after we signed his son, but I am happy nonetheless. Great signing!

This makes me happy.

It also makes the entire OL, Matt Schaub and Steve Slaton happy.

In other moves to revamp the defensive staff, Rhodes was elevated from assistant defensive backs coach who primarily worked with the safeties to senior defensive assistant.

Three others who were on the staff have been promoted: Matt LaFleur (offensive assistant), Perry Carter (defensive assistant) and Robert Saleh (assistant linebackers).

Frank Bush, who was the senior defensive assistant the last two years, was promoted to defensive coordinator after the season. Bill Kollar was hired as assistant head coach/defensive line and David Gibbs as defensive backs coach.

Weird, I didn't know Kollar was named Assistant HC

Great to see Gibbs in the fold for another year. It is also a real luxury to have a guy like Ray Rhodes around, especially on a young defensive staff.

Anyone wonder what Rhodes new title consists of. (or what frank did in that capacity)

Yeah, I think that was part of the inducement from Buffalo. People talked about it being a lateral move, but it really wasn't.

I appreciate the appropriate use of the hyphen in re-signed.

I would have flipped out if I read the thread title and it said

"Gibbs resigned"

The article doesn't say for how long Gibbs is re-signed, anyone know?

I don't "know" but my guess is that Gibbs is going year to year at this point in his life.

silly american language.

HUGE sigh of relief! I agree signing his son makes it more probable but still, he is the #1 reason why we have the #3 offense in the NFL. It all starts inside. It was really critical in my opinion to have at least two seasons with Gibbs. I"m hoping for more. Even if he's less involved as the years go on. Please tell me he's teaching Benton everything he knows!

One hell of a day in the history of the Texans. HUGE!!!!!

Go Texans.

Effing great re-sign. This was a huge offseason move, and I'm glad this didn't go the "other" way. I was getting a little concerned with a bit of a dead period after we brought his kid in to coach. Gibbs is the only reason I have a single hope for Brown. Welcome back coach Gibbs!!
