AND, I hope people vote based on who they think will win, and not based upon who they want to win. Football is football. Emotions are emotions. Be logical and separate the old school hate.....lol:tiphat: Pittsburgh 27-10. Too many Ravens out for this game or banged up to begin with. LeBeau, vs a rookie QB and having played against him 3 times.....Flacco better bring a flap jacket!

This makes three. I acklowledge the Ravens are short handed and have to be tired, but I picked them to win it all when the playoffs rolled around and the deathmatch thread started. Besides, revenge is a *****.

Things did not start well for the ravens..

The big play to Ward was disappointing, but they made a good stop after that. Will have to see how the offense comes out now.

Great Defense from PGH. Now Run the ball down Baltimore's throat! Keep the game out of Ben's hands, and win the game!

Poor pass from Flacco...looks like the favorites could be capable of handling this one...

01-18-2009, 07:14 PM
Wow.. I didn't think the game was going to be over this fast.. No way in hell the ravens can come back from 10-0 score against this defense with a rookie QB..

kastofsna
01-18-2009, 07:17 PM
10-0 isn't that hard to come back on. just score a TD, keep the Steelers from doing the same, and you're all set. and besides it's 3-0`

I don't where the refs got that that was an incomplete pass.. Oh well... Good Luck for the ravens

Most exciting part of the game so far was seeing Kobe, A-Rod, Tony Hawk, and Michael Phelps in the same commercial

mattieuk
01-18-2009, 07:20 PM
The Ravens got away with the interception. They've got to get something a bit more substantive going with this next drive...otherwise a two possession game, with the kind of defensive dominance expected in this game is always going to be tough to overcome.

Another rule in the NFL rulebook exploited as a joke. That's the only way one can say that wasn't a catch. I've got the Ravens so it works in my favor, but man that was a catch.

01-18-2009, 07:25 PM
It looked like Mason stopped running...if he'd have continued, that looks like a completion by Flacco.

mattieuk
01-18-2009, 07:25 PM
Flacco looks like a rookie QB.

Hes not enjoying the pressure he's getting at times, and the coverage has been tight so far, and the double teams been working.

they've gotta at least motion an attempt to get the ground game going, and set up some short passing attempts to get a groove of completions going.

disaacks3
01-18-2009, 07:28 PM
BIG turnover..let's see if the Ravens can capitalize.

Thats going to cost the Ravens....really poor that they couldn't pick up the yard over 2 yards.

The Pitt line is looking as strong as ever, and this is definitely going to be the defense orientated game.

True, does even that out a bit more, although it also poses the dilemma of being a one score at half time, and th question of staying up even later into the morning, or going to bed, whilst not being safe in the knowledge its a 2 score game in a defensive encounter.

Flacco has to step it up....they've barely got 70 yards on offense all game...it ain't going to cut it.

I keep forgetting you and a few others here are six hours in front. You sir, are a fan. :texflag:

I think Flacco (God bless his rookie soul) will succumb to the Pittsburgh D in the end, but at this point there's a whole lotta football left. I'll predict that halfway through the 4th this game will be all but over and we'll start thinking about Arizona-Pittsburgh. (<---my predictions suck and Arizona-Pittsburgh will take some getting used to)

Agree....just don't see the Ravens having enough consistent and reliable threat to come back at the Steelers. There was a point towards the end of the first half, where they were tried a couple of screens and short passes, utilizing Rice, which seemed to have some potency about it, opposed to their either pressured, or just ineffective passing game for most of this game.

Ray Rice has got to be the way they're going to be able to bust this open, cause as good as McClain has been this year, this was never going to be his game against the Pittsburgh line, and McGahee is not going to be doing it all on his own.

It could be just me, but I find it difficult to be bored watching the playoffs in any sport with all that's on the line. I enjoy watching defensive struggles so that could be it as well.

Having said that I can understand as I watch the Baltimore offense go nowhere fast against the #1 defense how it does seem to drag out the inevitable.

I wonder if Flacco isn't seeing the field as well as he's capable. Maybe a little gun shy.

Its that for me, along with the sure-fire knowledge that give it 4 weeks and I'll be sitting, shaking in the corner, clinging to a half finished bottle of whisky, dreaming of watching a live fairly dull, defense fest. Sitting through the slow and painful dismantling of the Ravens eases that by a little.

That said, I wish Flacco would start performing like he has this season. Scared? Perhaps. He is making some poor decisions...holding onto the ball too long at times, and not pulling it down, and taking a quick gain with his legs.

The Steelers should have put this away already, what with the dropped Sweed TD pass and the botched time management.

But hey, this is why you can't beat sport, and suddenly Flacco wakes up, and McGahee starts taking the weight of the offense on his shoulders.

Game on.

Its really eerie now. The announcers are quiet, the crowd if quiet, and everything remotely excited has just disappeared. Perhaps a Ravens possession will liven people up, and get them over the injury.
